• College of Polytechnics Jihlava – public educational institution of non-universitary manner (2 in the Czech Republic)

• intended as a practice–oriented educational institution (analogy to Fachhochschule / School of Engineering)

• established 2004• first technical study programme 2006• 2014: 7 study fields in 5 study programmes, most fields

offered in present and combined form


• approx. 3000 students (stabilized number)– influence of demografic drop expected

• largest study programme – Economics and Management (2 study fields)

• only Bachelor study available yet• standard length of study – 3 years• internship / practical training mandatory in all study

fields

Informatics– Computer Systems (present and combined form)– Applied Computer Science (present form only)

• suffers from high unsuccess rate, mainly in first year of study• < 150 students in both fields of study• courses provided mainly by Dept. of Electrical Engineering

and Computer Science– 14 staff members, 4 external teachers– constantaneous effort to improve staff qualification (PhD, assoc. prof.)


• specific laboratories of Dept. EECS– multimedia and signal processing– computer control systems– robotics (used also as a development lab)– microprocessors– electronics / measurements– computer networks



• equipment / instrument portfolio enhanced constantaneously

• recently set of devices and sensors bought to equip a sensor laboratory (ElBiK)– two new courses on the topic upcoming

• technology for PCB developed in cooperation with local companies


Outlooks:• tremendous effort made to increase

the attractiveness of the study• master field of study upon consideration• formation of working teams after significant staff

modification in progress• growing academic & industrial cooperation
