COMICS.Comic books are, at least, as old as movies. Their first steps were set in the beginning of the XXth

Century, in the search of new ways of graphic and visual communication and expression. One of the most important companies dealing with comic is Marvel. This company was founded by Martin Goodman in 1939. Its first publication was in October 1939 featuring the first appearance of an android superhero, The Human Torch, and in 1941 a sales hit called Captain America appeared.

After the success of these comics, Marvel began publishing further superheroes titles featuring such heroes and anti-heroes as Hulk, Spider-man, The Mighty Thor, Ant-Man, Iron Man, The X- Men and Daredevil.

Marvel superheroes are often flawed, freaks and misfits, unlike the perfect, hand-some, athletic heroes found in previous traditional comic books. Some of the Marvel heroes looked like villains and monsters. In time, this non-traditional approach would revolutionise comic books.
