Welcome New Resource Teacher
With Mrs. Haering’s recent resignation for family reasons, Mrs. Crowe is going to finish out the year as the
morning Kindergarten teacher, leaving an opening for her grades 3-5 resource position. We’d like to welcome
back to Holy Spirit Mrs. Beth Dunphy. Mrs. Dunphy worked closely with Mrs. Crowe as a 5th grade teacher
from 2005-2010. More recently she has been a regular substitute teacher at Holy Spirit, so she already knows
many of the students. She will begin next week working a few mornings per week.
Mrs. Sprangers – prayers needed Please keep Mrs. Sprangers and her family in your prayers. This week both her mom and her dad have been in
the ICU for different medical reasons. She does so much for our school and our school community, so please
add her parents to your prayers.
Employers Matching Gifts Did you know that many area businesses offer their employees the opportunity to increase their contributions
by matching a percentage of their financial donations, or by making a donation to an organization after a
certain number of community volunteer hours have been recorded? The following companies offer matching
programs. Check with your employer today to increase the value of your own contribution!

Time to Register One of the parents/guardians should have recently received an email from [email protected] with
directions to register your child for the 2020-21 school year. We sent this email to all "contacts" in
PowerSchool, so at least one of the parents/guardians received it. However, it may have gone to an
emergency contact as well, if we have emails for an emergency contact.
Returning student registration is done online on your PowerSchool parent portal account. We sent registration
packets home last week for the 2020-21 school year. If you received directions in your packet about how to
create a PowerSchool parent account, that's because you haven't set up an account yet. If you didn't receive
directions, that's because you already have a parent account created. Please call the school office if you need
help figuring out your PowerSchool parent account. If you need more information about Holy Spirit
or registration, please visit our website at https://www.holyspiritknights.org/registration. Please let us know if
you have any questions. If parents register by the end of February, their $200 registration fee will count
towards your 2020-21 tuition. We are looking forward to continuing to educate your child(ren) at Holy Spirit.
Tuition Assistance grants
Tuition Assistance grants are given out every year from the Father Fuller Endowment for Tuition
Assistance. Tuition Assistance grants are available yearly and are handled in complete confidentiality. These
grants are meant for families who fall above the WPCP income limits, but may still need some assistance to
provide a Catholic education for their child(ren). Financial reasons should not be a reason not to return to Holy
Spirit. If you want a Catholic education for your child(ren), our goal is to make that happen for our families.
Tuition Assistance Application 2020-21...applications are due March 31, 2020
Claim a Private School Tuition Tax Deduction
Private school parents can benefit from Wisconsin’s K-12 tuition tax deduction by simply completing a one-
page form with their 2019 state tax filing.
This is a state tax deduction that was won by WCRIS for private K-12 school parents across the state. But it
does no good for private school families and schools unless parents claim it. A simple form can help families
deduct up to $4,000 for K-8 tuition and $10,000 for 9-12 tuition on their state income taxes.
Holy Spirit’s FEIN number is: 39-0807237
2019 Tax Deduction form link
Tuition statements showing your tuition transactions were emailed last week. You can include payments made
on Kindergarten through grade 8 tuition fees. Please consult a tax professional if you have further questions.
Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) for 2020-21
Last March, Lori Paul from the Diocese of Green Bay, came to present to the education committee information
about the WPCP. After the meeting it was unanimously decided to move forward with this program for the
2020-21 school year. This was posted in the education committee minutes from March 19, 2019.
The Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) allows students to attend a participating private school
tuition-free if certain eligibility criteria are met and the students are selected by the Department of Public
Instruction (DPI). The private school, on behalf of the student’s parent or guardian, receives a state aid payment (voucher) for each eligible student. WPCP is a separate application process from the Holy Spirit
Catholic School tuition assistance application.
Student eligibility: Students new to Holy Spirit, coming from a public school or home school in grades 4K
through grade 8 are eligible. Returning Holy Spirit students entering 4K-grade 8 are eligible for the 2020-21 and
2021-22 school years. Thanks to the support from St. Mary Catholic Schools, Holy Spirit has entered into a
combined school agreement with SMCS to allow eligible returning students to receive a voucher for two years.
Beginning in the 2022-23 school year, the returning Holy Spirit students entering 4K, kindergarten, and grade 1
will be eligible.
Visit the Affording a Catholic Education tab on our website to see the income eligibility table on the WPCP

2020 from 6:00-7:00 pm in the school library. If you have any questions or concerns about this program,
please contact Mike Zuleger. Holy Spirit is one of the last out of the 50+ schools in the Green Bay Diocese to
participate in WPCP.

WISCONSIN PARENTAL CHOICE PROGRAM
Frequently asked Questions
What is the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program?
The Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) allows students to attend a participating private school tuition-free if certain eligibility
criteria are met and the students are selected by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI). The private school, on behalf of the student’s parent or guardian, receives a state aid payment (voucher) for each eligible student. WPCP is a separate application process from the Holy
Spirit Catholic School tuition assistance application.
How do I know if we are eligible?
Families must meet income and student eligibility requirements.
Income eligibility: The prior year adjusted gross income (AGI) must be at or
below 220% of the federal poverty guideline (see chart). This would include
income of parents or legal guardians residing in the same household as the
student applicant. Family size includes parents or legal guardians and their
children by birth, marriage or adoption that reside in the same household as
the student applicant.
Student eligibility: Students new to Holy Spirit, coming from a public school or
home school in grades 4K through grade 8 are eligible. Returning Holy Spirit
students entering 4K-grade 8 are eligible for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school
years. Thanks to the support from St. Mary Catholic Schools, Holy Spirit has
entered into a combined school agreement with SMCS to allow eligible returning
students to receive a voucher for two years. Beginning in the 2022-23 school
year, the returning Holy Spirit students entering 4K, kindergarten, and grade 1
will be eligible.
What expenses are covered by the WPCP vouchers?
The WPCP provides private schools with state-funded vouchers that cover full tuition, and registration. WPCP vouchers do not cover
co-curricular fees, equipment, transportation, after-school or summer care, elective school trips, classroom supplies or meals.
How and when do we apply?
Parents must complete the online Private School Choice Program application during the open application period, February 3-April 16, 2020
available at https://sms.dpi.wi.gov/ChoiceParent/. An email address is required to apply. In addition, parents must provide supporting
documentation directly to Holy Spirit Catholic School within the application period. Applicants are strongly encouraged to call Mike Zuleger
prior to completing the application.
What supporting documentation is required to complete the application?
Proof of income is required for all students new to WPCP. A signed copy of the federal 1040 is acceptable for verification. If taxes have not
been filed, please call Mike Zuleger (see below) to determine the best option for your family to qualify and provide documentation. It is
strongly recommended that you select the DPI method to verify income. The Department of Revenue (DOR) method is highly sensitive and
submissions using this method are final.
Proof of residency is required for all new and returning applicants. For a complete list of acceptable forms, refer to the DPI website (see
below). All supporting documentation must be submitted to the Holy Spirit Catholic School during the application period.
How are students chosen to participate in WPCP at Holy Spirit Catholic School?
The DPI will randomly draw from among eligible, valid applications. Parents are notified by the DPI via email in the summer regarding
acceptance or waitlist status.
Do I need to reapply for WPCP every year if my child receives a voucher at Holy Spirit Catholic School?
Yes, you must reapply each year online via the DPI website and supply residency documentation during the open application period.
Students who have received a WPCP voucher and reapply will be awarded a voucher each subsequent year regardless of income and grade.
If you have questions or would like to set up a private consult, contact Mike Zuleger at [email protected] or
920-733-2651 . More information on the program can be found at the Department of Public Instruction
website: http://dpi.wi.gov/sms/choice-programs.
