Connecting People Who Care with Causes that Matter
Charlotte Community Foundation, Inc. (CCF) is an independent, tax-exempt public charity as described in sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code, created by and for the people of Charlotte County, FL.
We enable people with philanthropic interests to support the issues they care about through endowed and other funds. We provide financial support to nonprofits which address a wide variety of current and long term needs in our community. Our mission is to connect people who care with causes that matter.
The Charlotte Community Foundation is the only Foundation focused EXCLUSIVELY on the needs of Charlotte County with .98 cents of every $1.00 going toward community support.
Since 1995, Charlotte Community Foundation has awarded more than $6 million in fund disbursements, grants and scholarships.
Charlotte Community Foundation
2016 Annual Report Greetings!
Since joining the team in October 2016, so much has happened through the Charlotte Community Foundation. We have spent a significant amount of time in front of community and special interest groups, social service organizations, nonprofits, chambers, etc.
I was not surprised to hear that many Charlotte County residents have no idea what goes on “at that big yellow building on the corner of Tamiami and West Olympia Ave.” Now, as the CEO of that “big yellow building” I can tell you that there is MUCH going on at the Charlotte Community Foundation.
In 2016:
$827,786 in funding was provided to more than 50 nonprofits, through disbursements, grants & scholarships.
$90,000 in Higher Education Scholarships were provided to 25 individuals seeking personal improvement and achievement through a college education.
$50,000 in grants was provided to 9 nonprofits through our annual competitive grant program.
60 nonprofits utilized the Virginia B. Andes Training & Education Center for more than 400 sessions AT NO COST to the nonprofit.
$105,042 was raised through a New CHARLOTTE CARES Campaign
$100,000 was donated anonymously as an unrestricted gift intended to provide a “Hand Up” to Charlotte County residents in need.
2016 proved to be a great year but there is so much more work to be done. We look forward to sharing much exciting information in 2017 as we continue to meet, listen and respond to the needs and interests of our residents, donors and nonprofits. By working together, with one focus in mind – a better tomorrow for all - there is so much more that we can accomplish.
Warmest Regards, Tami Sender CEO
