The decathlon is an athletic event consisting of ten
track and field events. Events are held over two
consecutive days and the winners are determined by
the combined performance in all events. Traditionally,
the title of "World's Greatest Athlete" has been given
to the man who wins the decathlon. This began when
King Gustav V of Sweden told Jim Thorpe, "You, sir,
are the World's Greatest Athlete" after Thorpe won
the decathlon at the Stockholm Olympics in 1912.

The visionaries of Vidyabharati Foundation's Institute of Business Management & Research (IBMR) Hubli believe in - Think big, think fast and think ahead. Ideas are not one's monopoly and that's how the idea of 'Decathlon-2009' was conceived.
At the outset, the very purpose of organizing this Management Fest 'Decathlon-2009' is aimed towards creating opportunities for students to discover, explore and learn not just within the confines of their curriculum but extending outside the boundaries of the classroom and academics.
'Decathlon' is a two day event of the Sports Extravaganza - Olympics. It is an event in the Olympics wherein athletes participate in ten events and the overall best wins the gold. Although in Olympics, this event is confined only to men but IBMR Management Fest 'Decathlon-2009' believes in equality, hence it is open to both, men and women.
Just as sports make you learn many things, similarly learning should also be sportive. In sports, winning or losing is secondary but it is the magnificence of the participation. Similarly, Decathlon-2009 assures you that we may be different in shape, colour, sex and size; but equal is the light that within us lies.
This mega event is a platform to showcase your managerial ability, to adapt, to be innovative, to be creative, to be judicious, and to be everything which makes you not just a manager but a gold winning leader.
Ten events –Ice Breaking, Best Manager, Marketing Event, Finance Event, HR Event, Business Plan, Research Papers, Business Quiz, Best SIP, Cultural Episode, that constitutes the Decathlon-2009 is where only the best will prevail.
