SRINAGAR, Aug 1: DailyWagers and casual labours of PublicHealth Engineering (PHE) depart-ment today appealed Governmentto regularize their services.

The PHE dailywagers andcasual labours had organized oneday convention at Town hallPulwama and had invited ChiefMinister's political analyst,Waheed-ur-Rahman Parra andMember of Legislative Assembly(MLA) Khalil Bandh. The con-vention was organized by theemployees of twin districts ofPulwama and Shopian.

On the occasion, the PHEemployees appealed Parra andBandh to take up the issue of reg-ularization with the Government.The employees said that many ofthem are working since year 1993as dailywagers and casual laboursand even after 22 years they havenot been regularized.

"We staged dozens of proteststo wake up the Government but sofar we have not been regularized,"

they said, adding: "many of us arethose who are retiring just aftertwo or three months."

SAMBA, Aug 1: To checkthe attendance and inspect thehealthcare facilities, DistrictDevelopment CommissionerSamba Sheetal Nanda along anddifferent teams of officers todaypaid surprise visits to the

Government offices andHospitals of the district.

During her visit to theDistrict Hospital, the DDCreviewed the health services,checked attendance registersand staff position. She took around of the wards of the hospi-tal and interacted with thepatients there.

The cleanliness in andaround the hospital was also

checked and directions werepassed for taking utmost careregarding health and hygiene.

Deputy MedicalSuperintendent Samba BharatBushan accompanied DDCSamba during the inspection.

Similarly ADC Samba con-ducted the inspection of

Emergency Hospital Vijaypurwhile SDM Vijaypur inspectedthe Community Health CentreRamgarh. During the teamschecked the attendance of staffand inspected the wards, OPDsection and other facilities.

The ADDC and ACR alsoinspected offices in DC com-plex. They checked attendanceregisters, staff strength of eachoffice and issued strictly direct-ed all officers to be punctualdevelop work culture in theirrespective offices.

KOLKATA, Aug 1: JKTourism organised a Road Showat Kolkata on the sidelines of theTourism Travel Fair held there.

The Road Show was attend-ed by JK travel fraternity whowere supported by KCCI. Theshow attracted a large gatheringincluding the West Bengal touroperators, their organizationsand Media.

Tourism players of JK spokein one voice and assured thepotential visitors from Bengal ofall support and help so that theirstay in the Valley remains acherished memory.

Tourism officials highlightedthe tourist products andanswered the queries from pressand travel/ tour operators ofWest Bengal. The interactionresulted in highlighting variousfacets of Jammu & Kashmirtourism.

SRS, Kranti Dal express concernover sufferings of Amarnath yatris

JAMMU, Aug 1: State presi-dent, Shri Ram Sena (SRS),Rajiv Mahajan and State presi-dent, Kranti Dal (KD), PritamSharma in a joint statementtoday expressed serious concernover sufferings of Amarnathyatries due to ongoing strike forAIIMS in Jammu.

They said that we wantAIIMS in Jammu but we areagainst the harassment ofAmarnath Yatris. They appealedchairman of AIIMSCoordination Committee (ACC)and president, J&K High CourtBar Association, AbhinavSharma, to ensure thatAmarnath Yatris do not sufferdue to the ongoing strike.

Both SRS and KD chiefssaid that harassment ofAmarnath pilgrims in Jammusends wrong message in thecountry and will benefit those

vested interests in Kashmir whoare hell bent upon sabotagingthe peaceful Amarnath Yatra aswell agitation for AIIMS inJammu.

Later, while talking on tele-phone with Rajiv Mahajan,ACC chairman assured that theyalso prefer for continuing ShriAmarnath and Vaishno Devi pil-grimage without harassment.

Abhinav appealed to pil-grims to meet coordinationcommittee members if they faceany sort of difficulties in pil-grimage or call on phone num-bers-- 9419175465,9419192477 and 9419189855.

SRINAGAR, Aug 1: Ministerfor Transport, Abdul Gani Kohlitoday visited Mujipathri, Gurwateand Basant Wudur of KhansahibConstituency and addressed publicgatherings.

Many public deputationsincluding the deputations of GujjarCommunity met the Minister andhighlighted various issues andsought his intervention in resolvingthem. The issues included resump-tion of SRTC bus service fromSrinagar to Mujipathri, better trans-port service along all routes andextending other basic amenities tothe areas which do not have suchfacilities.

Addressing the various publicgatherings during his visit, theMinister reiterated thatGovernment is committed to

extend all basic facilities to the peo-ple and under several schemes andprogrammes of the Government,various departments are alreadyworking to ensure that basic ameni-ties reach to all areas.

He said, "we have alreadytaken several steps towards ensur-ing that administration remains atthe beck and call of the people andworks in an efficient, transparentand accountable manner."

The Minister said Governmenthas also taken initiatives in devel-oping tourist infrastructure inDistrict Budgam especially in thetourist areas of Yusmarg andDoodhpathri. He said that tourismrelated infrastructure will be devel-oped at Doodhpathri in a plannedmanner and construction of variousfacilities will be taken up and com-pleted at the earliest.

POONCH, Aug 1: SubDivisional MagistrateSurankote has placed twoemployees of HealthDepartment under suspension.

The employees AsifMehmood Manhas, MPHWand Javaid Ahmed, Safai Walawere found involved when theSub Divisional Magistrate andSHO Surankote on the com-plaint of general public con-ducted a raid in the SDHSurankote and found somebottles of liquor and friedchicken pieces in the storerooms.

Taking serious note oftheir involvement the SDMplaced both the employeesunder suspension.

Court denies bail in dowry

JAMMU, Aug 1: SpecialMobile Magistrate Passenger TaxJammu, Amit Gupta rejected thebail application of a lecturernamely Rajnesh Kumar, who wasarrested by the police in abetmentto suicide case of his wife ParulSharma.

After hearing both the sides,court observed, “the statements ofmany witnesses were recordedand another angle from which theinvestigation is still required to beconducted is the alleged relationsof deceased which are required tobe proved”, adding “the publicinterest does not allow theaccused to move freely and con-front the family members of thevictim day in and day out”.

With these observations, courtrejected the bail application.
