Martin appointed facilities planning interim director
W. Mike Martin has been appointed interim director of facilities planning in the Business Affairs Division. The appointment, announced by Interim Vice President for Business Affairs Frank Lebens, is effective from Dec. 2 through March 27, 1992.
Martin will be assisting Lebens in the development of the major and minor capital outlay program submissions, reorganization issues in the facilities planning area, and other facilities planning projects.
Martin came to Cal Poly as head of the Architecture Department in 1985. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington, Seattle, and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
New department head Dr. Edwin H. Jaster has been
named department head of Dairy Science. The former University of Illinois associate professor will begin his new duties Winter Quarter. The appointment runs through August 1993.
McDonald appointed Anna J. McDonald, director of
affirmative action, has been designated coordinator of Cal Poly efforts to prevent discrimination against the handicapped, both
students and employees. She succeeds E. Douglas Gerard, who recently retired.
McDonald will be responsible for compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which prohibits the California State University from discriminating on the basis of a handicap.
Retirement reception Richard "Dick" Brug, director of
public safety, will retire Tuesday, Dec. 31, after 31 years in law enforcement and nearly 14 years at Cal Poly. A coffee reception in his honor is planned at Public Safety from 2-4 pm on Friday, Dec. 13.
SESLOC to close Christmas week
SESLOC Federal Credit Union at Cal Poly, will be closed Christmas week - Monday through Friday, Dec. 23-27.
Members may use the A TM machine outside SESLOC, or go to the main office on Los Osos Valley Road, which will be open every day except Christmas.
Cal Poly's SESLOC office will reopen Monday, Dec. 30, and will be closed New Year's Day.

County engineer will talk Dec. 13
Clint Milne, county engineer and water-supply expert for San Luis Obispo County, will speak to area public administrators at a luncheon on Friday, Dec. 13.
Milne will talk about the State Water Project and a possible Nacimiento Lake project. The event is scheduled for noon at Vista Grande Restaurant.
Part of a series of public events, the luncheon is sponsored by the San Luis Obispo chapter of the American Society of Public Administration and Cal Poly's Center for Practical Politics.
The cost of the luncheon is $7. For reservations call Dr. Dianne Long of the Political Science Department at ext. 2984.
Auditions scheduled for Jan. 9·1 0
The Theatre and Dance Department will hold auditions for "Oedipus" on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 9-10, from 7 to 10 pm in Davidson Music Center 212.
Production dates for the play are Feb. 20-22.
The Greek tragedy, written by Sophocles, was adapted by theatre and dance faculty member Al Schnupp, who will also direct the production. The play will be a multi-media production featuring slides, dance, modem poetry, and percussion.
Approximately 24 roles are available for men and women. Scripts may be checked out overnight from the Theatre and Dance Department office, Room 104 of the Davidson Music Center.
Interested percussionists and choreographers should contact Schnupp at ext. 2030.
