Pole Position 2010
This is the slogan with which we started the year 2010, and we promised you that this
starting position would accompany us throughout the year. One of the first places,
maybe even the first place, among the topics and products of the year has been held by
the ZENOSTAR concept.
And sticking to the language of Formula 1: our monolithic crowns and bridges, shaded
restorations in zirconium dioxide, have found increased acceptance and market penetra-
tion with every lap. The ZENOSTAR concept is the No. 1 topic on the market and has
become the alternative to non-precious metal crowns. Fully contoured, fully automatic
and all ceramic; this is the fitting description of ZENOSTAR restorations in translucent
zirconium dioxide. This technology has given the market new impetus and enables all
participants in the market to reposition themselves towards patients, dentists and dental
technicians and to open up a new dimension in the product range.
A propos dimension: with the single-layer technique from the Zenoflex dimension and
Reflex dimension ranges, WIELAND Dental + Technik has once again attained pole posi-
tion. On the following pages you can learn how you can make your ceramic restorations
even more economical in future – without making sacrifices in terms of aesthetics. The
single-layer ceramic technique is a manufacturing process which is just about to pull
away from the line and dominate your future range of services.
Improve your position when lining up your business, your lab and your market.
Familiarise yourself with the ZENOSTAR concept and the single-layer technique. Get into
position early. Make the running by setting off in the first row and take charge of events
from a position of advantage. We at WIELAND are the team at your side. Let me cordi-
ally invite you to visit me at the team headquarters in Pforzheim to learn more about our
various forward-looking concepts. We look forward to enjoying mutual success.
Finally, let me close with a quotation
from Henry Ford –
Coming together is a beginning;
working together is success.
Yours sincerely
Jens Reichenbach

WIELAND has adapted its successful veneering ceramics to
meet the technical and aesthetic challenges of today. They are
compatible with CAD/CAM fabrication, stored in the C-Box and
give free rein to the user‘s creativity. They are now called Reflex
dimension for PFM veneers and Zenoflex dimension for venee-
ring zirconium dioxide.
In this context, ‘unlimited dimensions’ means that WIELAND
has closed the gap between affordability, creativity and flexibility
for both veneering ceramic systems.
Affordable: The two single-layer ceramics Reflex dimension
One and Zenoflex dimension One are now taking off into a
new dimension. They enable the veneer to be built up in a
time-saving and easy manner with just one ceramic material
and therefore offer great potential for savings. The same applies
to the X Stain RZ Module (Stains and Body Stains) for shading
monolithic ZENOSTAR work, PFM crowns and zirconium dioxide
veneering ceramics.
Creative: Additional modifiers which have previously only been
available for use when veneering oxide ceramics have now been
extended to the PFM material, Reflex dimension. This makes it
even easier to adapt between all-ceramic and PFM restorations.
In the case of Zenoflex dimension, the somewhat deeper tone
of the basic shades gives added brilliance even when space is
restricted. Additional features are deepdown fluorescence and
a very natural-looking opalescence. The addition of mother-of-
pearl type modifiers makes a further contribution to obtaining a
natural appearance in anterior restorations.
Reliable: The veneering ceramic systems also offer further
sophisticated features. Reflex NP Safe, for example, for
conditioning frameworks in non-precious metal alloys in order
to counteract uncontrolled oxidation processes. Zenoflex
dimension for veneering zirconium dioxide restorations now
has a modified microstructure with anti-stress minerals (ASM)
to minimise undesirable tensile stresses in the system.

The C-Box is a compact, ergonomic and stylish designer
ceramic system. It enables you to adjust the time spent and
material used according to the requirements of each parti-
cular job and technique, from singlelayer ceramics and the
standard build-up using a limited number of materials to the
more involved premium restorations for the most discerning
requirements. Modern ceramic systems are compact, stripped
to the bare essentials and in the case of new dimension
WIELAND ceramics can even be selectively assembled to meet
your particular needs. In other words, you can decide upon
the contents of your C-Box yourself.
But this freestyle method is just one of your options. Our
predefined modules make it really easy for any lab to get
started. There are no limits to the dimensions of creativity
and economy attainable. But all modules and all materials
have their place in the centrepiece of this system. The C-Box.
So easy to get started
The dimension of the new WIELAND ceramic concept was presented to the national press on 20. September 2010.
Entering the new world of ceramics couldn’t be simpler.
Whether you opt for the single-layer technique, the three-layer build-up or the professional build-up, the Basic I, Basic II and dimension
One starter modules are now available. Single-layer ceramic – by using just two translucent materials, the corresponding opaques and
four body stains, all 16 shades of the A-D shade guide can easily be reproduced by staining.

An upgrade for DentalDesigner™ has
been announced for December. Here is a
brief preview of the most important new
features. For the first time, it will now be
possible to create and model both upper
and lower arches in the same job. The new
simultaneous modelling option facilitates
outstanding aesthetics and processing
speeds for the entire restoration.
Simultaneous modelling of upper and
lower arches
The simultaneous modelling feature gives
technicians the unique opportunity to scan
and design a restoration which includes
preparations in both arches – all in full
occlusion. This increases speed and
efficiency and the technician can switch
from one arch to the other at will. For
the first time, dental technicians enjoy
unlimited freedom of design whilst they
are constantly able to check, monitor, align
anddesign the opposing dentition in real
time.
Smile composer –
aesthetic, fully-contoured bridges
This powerful new tool enables
technicians to design highly aesthetic
fully-contoured bridges with ease by
working with virtual templates from
Dental-Designer™. The intuitive workflow
uses library models of complete front
arches and single teeth.
Dynamic virtual articulation.
Dental System™ 2010 from 3Shape
responds to the call for the best possible
occlusal fit and now offers the lab a
highly sophisticated dynamic virtual
articulation which reduces the need
for manual finishing of the fully digital
restoration to the minimum. Because it is
now possible to simulate jaw movements
such as protrusion, retrusion, laterotru-
sion, mediotrusion, the user has access
to full dynamic articulation in digital
form. The virtual jaw movement can be
programmed according to user-defined
values. The real-time visualisation of
occlusion contacts provides continuous
input when correcting the design.
More flexible design of attachments
The user’s own CAD attachment libraries
can be fed into the system. Slide attach-
ments, ball attachments, locators and
retention holes can be added to the bar
at will.
Removable dentures
Cast model designed in less than 10 mi-
nutes. 3Shape’s Removable Partial Design
exactly meets the lab’s requirements. The
processes in the lab are the same as with
the conventional technique. The scan-
ner produces an ideal scan with extreme
accuracy in only 100 seconds. Work then
proceeds along the lines of the familiar
processes, including automatic blocking
out of undercuts, designing the reten-
tion grid (automatically blocked out for
subsequent lining with acrylic), construc-
ting the main connectors and finally,
adding clamps to the design.

WIElaND alloys – Recastable and combinable
The casting of precious metal alloys from different batches continues to be a controversial topic amongst experts, since there are
issues involved in guaranteeing complete reliability and biocompatibility in both lab and clinic. As a matter of course, however,
and provided that the requirements set out in the instructions for use applicable to WIELAND alloys are met, making castings from
different batches of the same alloy does not adversely affect the quality in any way. Nor does adding well-cleaned material from
previous castings have any detrimental effect on the casting properties or workability of the material, as long as the appropriate
recommendations are observed.
Irrespective of this, the batches used must, however, be fully and transparently documented as set out in the Medical Products
Act. At the current state of knowledge (lab tests and market observation), WIELAND Dental + Technik can therefore confirm that
there are no technical or formal objections to the use of different batches and well-cleaned and undamaged casting residues from
the same precious metal alloy within a single casting process.

A temporary crown normally serves as an
interim solution until the final denture
is ready. It protects the exposed dentine
against thermal, chemical and bacterial
irritants. The original form of the tooth
is simulated sufficiently to ensure that
not only the mastication and speech
functions are retained but also the
aesthetic appearance. Nowadays there is
great scope for the use of acrylic materials
with CAD/CAM techniques, in particular
in conjunction with the T1 5-axis milling
machine.
ZENOTEC ProFix impresses not only in
terms of its performance, as confirmed
by various tests, but also in that it co-
vers multiple ranges of indication as al-
ways sought after by practitioners and
technicians alike.
With ProFix, temporary crowns which
meet high aesthetic requirements in
the long term can be made just as
cost-effectively as individual healing
abutments. Splint therapy in patients
with CMD is mainly carried out with
unaesthetic materials. But here, too,
ProFix is more than an alternative. Whether
for table tops or in crown and bridge
therapy, ProFix with its excellent material
properties and the resulting wide range
of applications leaves almost nothing to
be desired. The ZENOTEC ProFix material
has been subjected to various tests at the
University of Zurich, including discoloura-
tion tests, tests for resistance to abrasion
and ultimate load tests. The encouraging
data from these tests warrant offering
this WIELAND material for use as long-
term temporary restorations. The fully-
contoured milled and stained temporary
crowns offer excellent aesthetics.
The main advantages:
Can be used as for long-term temporary
restorations with a life of up to 3 years.
Completely biocompatible and extre-
mely plaque resistant
Best shade matching and natural trans-
lucency
Very cost-effective, since fully-contou-
red milled temporary restorations do
not require veneering
High flexural strength
The material can be individualised with
composite.
ZENOTEC ProFix – more than just a temporary crown material
Anatomical design Therapeutic crowns after raising the bite
ZENOSTaR Magic Glaze* – Glaze material for polished zirconium dioxide
Fully contoured ZENOSTAR restorations in WIELAND‘s ZENOTEC Zr Bridge translucent
zirconium dioxide can now be glazed even more efficiently. ZENOSTAR Magic Glaze
is a glaze that can be applied from an aerosol can directly onto the crown or bridge
after the work has been stained with ZENOSTAR Color Zr, sintered and then polished
to a high shine. Now even restorations that have been individualised with stains can
be given a smooth surface, because the new aspect of this glaze material is that it
does not bead, does not conglomerate and does not retract from the edges.

New ZENOTEC Fire P1 sinter furnace
Small, fast, economical – these are the adjectives befitting the new high-
temperature sinter furnace from WIELAND Dental + Technik. Just like the
pre-installed program set, the ZENOTEC Fire P1 is specially tailored to the
individual WIELAND materials. ZENOTEC Fire P1 is of special interest to all labs that
sinter zirconium dioxide or aluminium dioxide framework materials, since it gives
independence to the lab. For example, in the fabrication of monolithic crowns and
bridges. These items are milled, individualised by the brush technique and then
sintered. This individualisation can not be outsourced, but must be carried out in
the lab. It is precisely here that the benefits of ZENOTEC Fire P1 are fully felt.
Highlights in brief:
Low-cost sinter furnace, which with a volume of up to 30 units per sintering
cycle, allows material to be exploited to the full.
Extremely stable temperatures up to 1600 °C thanks to heating elements in high-
purity molybdenum disilicide.
Fast sintering program ZENOTEC Zr Quick enables Zr crown and bridge work and
single copings to be sintered in 90 min (complete cycle < 3h).
New ZENOTEC tools
The new ZENOTEC milling tools have been designed specially for use in our 4-axis
milling machines and expand the existing range of tools.
The new ZENOTEC cutters offer the following advantages:
The geometry of the tools is carefully matched to the milling parameters of the
ZENOTEC 4-axis milling machines.
The use the 0.7 mm tool gives excellent fine milling and shaping of extremely
delicate fullycontoured anatomic structures, which in turn means less finishing work
and corresponding reduction in milling times.
More units can be made from each blank by using the1.5 mm tool for rough milling.
The customary long tool life of approx. 50 units and more (depending on material)
at attractive introductory prices
New markets for the ZENOTEC T1The ZENOTEC T1 is approved in the United States and Canada and has already
been launched on the market there. The cooperation that has taken place between
Nemko and WIELAND over the last few years has been officially documented at a
certification ceremony.
