Conyngham Street Dog Park
The works that were promised at Conyngham
Street Dog Park are happening. Irrigation has
been completed and in the coming weeks the
following work will be completed. Two new
drinking fountains with dog water bowls will
be provided, as well as a new shade shelter
with seats and table. Soil (containing turf)
from the Kensington Gardens Tennis and
Bowling Club, will be transplanted to further
encourage establishment of grass within the

Draft Annual Business Plan
and Budget
The Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget
is out for consultation. The last of three public
meetings is being held on Saturday 21 May
from 2 pm at the Glenunga Hub, Glenunga
Reserve.
Autumn Leaf Collection
If you wish Council to collect leaves that have
fallen from Council street trees please rake
them into piles on the verge.
Call Council on 8366 4200 no later than 3 pm
on a Friday for pick up the following week.
Branches will not be collected.
Regal Theatre bathroom
upgrade
The bathrooms within the Regal Theatre are
temporarily closed for an upgrade. The full
bathroom facilities are being refurnished to
improve the comfort and functionality of the
theatre while maintaining its historic
character.
During the work temporary toilets are
available at the rear of the theatre car park.

My Love Affair with Zambia
Meet author Sandy Clark who lived in Zambia in the 1970s and saw the difficulties faced by Zambian people during a time of racial ten-sion, soon after Zambia’s independence. Her book explores her passion for making a difference in a country she fell in love with.
Thursday 9 June 7 pm in the Library
All proceeds of the sale of the book go towards the charity she founded, Dignity Zambia, helping to build hospitals for disadvantaged women.
Refreshments provided. Cost $10. Books available for purchase on the night.

Library Closure
Burnside Library is implementing Radio
Frequency Identification (RFID) technology as
part of a state-wide project to move all South
Australian public libraries to this technology
within the next two years. As part of the
building process the Library will need to close
for four days in the interests of the safety and
comfort of the public.
These dates are Monday 23 and Tuesday 24
May and then Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2
June 2016.

Swimming Centre works
Some work is being undertaken at the
George Bolton Swimming Centre Burnside.
The works include a partial re-roof and some
mechanical replacement.
This work was not included in the budget for
the recent redevelopment.
You may notice some activity in and around
the pool but it should not affect park users
and the centre is closed for the winter.
Hard Waste Survey
Council has undertaken a 12 month trial of an
At Call Hard Waste Collection system
streamlining this service to:
be more flexible for our residents.
reduce the public safety risks, and
impact, of hard waste collection piles
on the streetscape amenity.
minimise the damage caused by
organised scavenging and
opportunistic illegal dumping.
The trial is now nearing the end and Council
seeks your feedback on the At Call Hard
Waste Collection system to determine if it is
to continue. Please complete the survey on

Burnside Symphony
Orchestra
Wednesday 29 June at 8 pm, the Burnside
Symphony Orchestra celebrates 60 years
with a gala concert at the Burnside Ballroom,
401 Greenhill Road, Tusmore.
Invited guest artists will join the orchestra with
conductor Philip Paine, for a wonderful,
varied and interesting concert.
Tickets are available online and at the door.

Bushfire Management Plan

The Adelaide Mt Lofty Ranges (AMLR) Bushfire
Management Committee recently endorsed
the draft AMLR Bushfire Management Area
Plan to be released for public consultation.
Public consultation will run from 3rd May for 6
weeks until 14th June.

Historic Walking Trails
The Burnside Historical Society has launched a
new self-guided walk online.
The Beulah Park Historic Self-Guided Walk
starts near Bus Stop 10, The Parade, Norwood
(near intersection with Portrush Road) passing
buildings and precincts built during the eighteen
and early nineteen hundreds.
The distance covered by this walk is 5 km and
takes approximately 2 hours to complete.
