Earthquakes- where will they strike?

#1-West Coast of South America

I believe that the west coast of South America will get and earthquake soon, because it has very active plate movements, as shown the picture.

What I learned:

I learned about a lot of the most common earthquake locations, and I also learned that islands near tectonic plate borders have a ton of earthquakes. I also learned that earthquakes can also occur off of plate boundaries as well.

What factors influence earthquake prediction?

A main factor that I used was past earthquakes, by seeing the locations of earthquakes in the past, you can predict where the next big earthquake might be. Another factor would be location, if it’s near a plate boundaries or in the middle of a plate can have a big difference.

Where on Earth do really big earthquakes strike?

Really big earthquakes usually strike at plate boundaries. Those boundaries are usually on the edges of continents or in the middle of the ocean. An example would be the San Andreas Fault line, which is near the edge of the continent, and earthquakes strike regularly.
