Where Do We Stand?
Physical Facilities• Completed (2006) 10 Year Seismic Improvement
Program for Distribution System • Completed (2005) Seismic Strengthening of
Mokelumne No. 3 Aqueduct• Begun the Seismic Upgrades for San Pablo Dam
(scheduled completion – Spring 2010)

How Will We RespondOperational Preparations• Established Emergency Operations Team (1993)
Guides District Operations & Recovery following disaster 65 Members, plus each position has a backup and alternate Liaison to Cities, Counties, Office of Emergency Services
• Developed Emergency Response Plan for Aqueducts in the Delta including stockpiling materials
• Developed Emergency Response & Business Continuity Plans for Hayward, Calaveras and Concord EQs for all EBMUD Departments
• Regularly exercises its emergency response plan

What We Are Planning?EBMUD will:• Re-evaluate Seismic Performance of System. • Perform Additional Seismic Upgrades• Monitor State-of-the-Art Seismic Lifeline Engineering• Continue to Improve Response Plans including Joint
Exercises with Outside Agencies (Cities, Counties, Water Agencies.
• Consider both Raw and Treated Water Systems.• Make Seismic Improvements to Vulnerable Delta
Facilities Short Term: Cross Connections & Scour Protection Medium Term: Plan for hardening vulnerable areas Long Term: Improve vulnerable link through Delta
– Large Investment will be required ($1 Billion Range)– Heavily Impacted by State Delta Vision Process
