Determining Process ParametersNOTE: The process parameters are normally set at the factory as requiredfor the respective application head GMG and the intended application. However, it is advisable to check the parameters.

SETTINGS 1 (System Settings)

Pump size Output capacity of the pump used in the GMGapplication head, stated in cm3/rev.

Refer to pump output diagram

Start delay Pump Sluggishness of the GMG control module cancause a pressure peak. This can beprevented by delaying pump startup after thecontrol module opens

min.:

Minimum inlet pressure

Set this value to 0, if the GMG is notequipped with an optional inlet pressuresensor.

max.: Maximum inlet pressure

max.:

Maximum outlet pressure

An internal threshold switch (9N6) limitsthe outlet pressure. The setting is a factorof the maximum inlet pressure permittedfor the control module / application moduleused in the GMG. Refer to page 16,Control Module / Threshold Switch. Itfollows that the setting Maximum outletpressure should be lower.

Vol. setp. Setpoint application volume per applicationcycle

Vol. max. Permitted percentage deviation from setpointapplication volumeVol. min.

NOTE: A fault is triggered when the value leaves the range between themin/max values. Refer to page 13, Fault Indications.

Offset determines the minimum speed and Gain the maximum speed.

NOTE: The maximum pump speed is limited to 75 min−1. When thematerial is viscous, metering precision can be improved with a lower speed.

Set the values:

1. Apply lowest input value (pilot voltage; 0 V)

2. Set Offset such that the desired output value is displayed

3. Apply a high input value

4. Set Gain such that the desired output value is displayed

Offset / Gain for Pressure Sensors

The standard values (offset = 0%, gain = 100%) do not normally need to bechanged. Adjustments to achieve Actual pressure = Displayed pressure areusually made on the equipment (hardware). Refer to page 15, CalibratingMeasuring Transducer.

EXT.

The speed is controlled by the pilot voltage atinterface XS5. The pilot voltage correspondse.g. to the traverse rate of a robot or thesubstrate speed in a parent machine

NOTE: The ratio of pilot voltage to theresulting speed can be influenced. Refer topage 10, Offset / Gain for Pump Speed −Examples

Fault Indications

If a fault occurs (e.g. a limit is exceeded) a appears in the display.

Acknowledging and Clearing Fault Messages

1. Touch . A window containing the most recent faults opens.

2. Remedy the cause of the fault.

NOTE: The fault indication can not be acknowledged until the fault isremedied.

3. Touch the (or similar symbol, depending on the fault) on the left sideof the display to acknowledge the fault.

NOTE: When a Drive controller fault occurs (red LED (1) flashing), theelectrical cabinet must be switched off and then on again toacknowledge the fault.

4. Touch the RESET softkey to clear the fault indication.

MaintenanceWARNING: Allow only qualified personnel to perform the following tasks.Observe and follow the safety instructions in this document and all otherrelated documentation.

NOTE: Maintenance is an important preventive measure for maintainingoperating safety and extending the service life of the unit. It should not beneglected under any circumstances.

Cleaning or Replacing Air FilterDepending on dust accumulation, the filters must be cleaned or replaced. A dirty filter can be recognized by its dark color. Clean the filters by tappingout the dirt. The fan screens need to be cleaned when they are dusty, possibly daily.

RepairSome of the components in the electrical cabinet are factory set for aspecific application (e.g. by DIP switches). When spare parts are installed, use this setting. The setting is normally documented in the wiring diagram.

Measuring Transducer / Pressure SensorCAUTION: The connected pressure sensor can be destroyed if thepressure transducer (1, 2) is set incorrectly.

A. When replacing the measuring transducer, use the previous setting (DIPswitch).

B. The measuring transducer must be calibrated when it or the pressuresensor is replaced:

Calibrating Measuring Transducer1. Ensure that the application head has been relieved of pressure.

2. Adapting Measuring Range to Output Signal

NOTE: For the exact value of the output signal, refer to the label on thepackaging of the individual pressure sensor or to the label on the cable.

The measuring transducer can be adapted to the pressure sensoroutput signal in steps of 1 mV. To do this, set all the switches, the sum ofwhich comes closest to the pressure sensor output signal, to On:

Example:

 Output signal = 9.41 mV/FS

Switch 5 and switch 8 to ON results in 9 mV.

3. On the measuring transducer: Set the Offset potentiometer (1) such that

0 bar pump output pressure is displayed 0.0 bar .

4. Short-circuit the pressure sensor connections E and F to simulate ameasured value of 80% of the measuring range. Depending on themodel of the electrical cabinet:

a. Short-circuit the free connections on the respective receptacles

b. Press in the bridge on the respective terminal strip

Or place the calibrating adapter (accessory) between the sensor and thereceptacle.

5. On the measuring transducer: Set the Gain potentiometer (2) such thata pressure value of 80% of the measuring range is displayed.

NOTE: Measuring range of the standard pressure sensor (P/N 406813):350 bar.

6. Remove the bridge between the connections E and F.

Control Module / Threshold SwitchCAUTION: Risk of overpressure, which could destroy the application headcontrol module. Hot material can escape under pressure.

An internal threshold switch 9N6 (1) limits the pump outlet pressure. Thesetting is a factor of the maximum inlet pressure permitted for the controlmodule / application module used in the GMG.

A. When replacing the control module, the threshold switch setting mayneed to be adjusted.

B. When replacing the threshold switch, use the previous setting (DIPswitch, speed controller). Also refer to separate threshold switchmanual.

Profibus-DPBox 5 = P

Unit Master File − GSDThere is a unit master file (GSD) that clearly describes the unit withPROFIBUS-DP interface. The format is based on the standard IEC 61158.

Delivery of every electrical cabinet equipped with the PROFIBUS-DPinterface includes the GSD on data media.

Setting Up HardwareTo integrate the electrical cabinet into the Profibus network:

1. Load the unit master file in a Profibus configuration program

2. Select the module PZD(8W).
