In one of the meetings held with the prominent Bahraini businessmen and the Indian businessmen settled in Bahrain, prior to the official visit of
HRH Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, the acting CEO of Bahrain Economic Development Board and Transport Minister of Bahrain said that it was the feeling of the
top Bahraini leadership that Bahrain should now focus on enhancing its trade relations with Asia especially India, Thailand, Japan and Malaysia.

ARABIAN MEP 2013:

The 2013 edition of Arab Exhibition for Engineering and Mechanisms
(Arabian MEP 2013) was held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and
Convention Centre (BIEC) from 7-9 January 2013. The exhibition offered a
vibrant Platform for companies and experts to showcase their products and
technology ranging from air conditioning, refrigeration and allied building services
to environmental friendly, energy saving and environmentally sustainable green
products and services. The event is an opportunity for global players in Bahrain
and other GCC countries to buy, sell, network and learn.
TAMKEEN EXPO 2013:
Tamkeen Expo 2013 was held at the Gulf Hotel from 7 & 8 January, 2013.
Tamkeen is to enhance the business and drive economic growth, in line with
Bahrain’s Economic Vision. Over 2000 business leaders and entrepreneurs
participated and attended the various activities that brought together Bahraini
entrepreneurs and an elite group of entrepreneurship experts from Bahrain and
abroad to share knowledge and discover how to boost their business.
THE GULF INDUSTRY FAIR 2013:
The sixth Gulf Industry Fair was held at the Bahrain International Exhibition
and Convention Centre (BIECC) from 15-17 January, 2013, under the Patronage
of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa. The
core objective of GIF 2013 was to be a Business enabler in a region were billions
of dollars is being spent on industrial and infrastructure capacity building. The
government’s success in attracting such specialized regional and international
exhibitions as evidence that Bahrain is on right track despite challenges. Gulf
Industry Fair 2013 has gained the Vote of Confidence.
AUTUMN FAIR 2013:
The Autumn Fair was inaugurated at the Bahrain International Exhibition
and Convention Centre under the patronage of the Minister of Industry and
Commerce and Chairman of the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority Dr.
Hassan Fakhro. It was held from 23 -31 January, 2013. Twenty countries took
part in this year’s Fair. Traders have expressed their satisfaction with the result of
the Autumn Fair 2013 with close to 100,000 people visiting during the first six
days. Autumn Fair 2013 was a success.

THANK YOU BAHRAIN:
THANK YOU BAHRAIN was one day event, organized by the Bahrain
Federation of Expatriate Association on 25th January, 2013. The event was
attended by Government Officials, Diplomats, Community leaders and members
from civil society organizations came under one roof to show solidarity with
Bahrain. Embassies along with schools and clubs and ministries had set up
pavilions. More than 18,000 people, including citizens, gathered at Bahrain
National Stadium to express their support for peace, unity and harmony in
Bahrain.
Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) 2013: The ninth annual Bahrain
International Garden Show opened on 27th February to 2nd March 2013. It was
held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad with the support of Her
Royal Highness Princess Sabeela bint Ibrahim Al Kahlifa, wife of the King and
National Initiative for Agricultural Development president. More than 15,000
people visited this year’s BIGS marking the second highest number in the event’s
history. The show also made a record of 120 exhibitors (80 locals) having
displayed planting techniques and Produce.
Middle East Oil & Gas Show 2013: MEOS 2013 was held under the patronage
of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa from 10
-13 March 2013. The exhibition is a part of the 18th Society of Petroleum
Engineers Middle East Oil & Gas Show and Conference. More than 300 companies
from 30 countries attended the MEOS 2013. Principle exhibitors include all six
GCC National Oil and Gas companies. The exhibition covered all areas of the
upstream oil and gas industry, including production, reservoir management,
drilling, completions, measurement systems, geology, geophysics, automation,
transportation, health and safety, and information technology. The event was a
success in both qualitative and quantitative terms.
BAHRAIN INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION 2013: The event was organized under the
patronage of Finance Minister and Oil and Gas Affairs Minister–in-charge Shaikh
Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa on 4th March 2013 at the Gulf Convention
Centre, Gulf Hotel. It provided a platform for interacting the key players in
corporate social responsibility activities in Bahrain and also provide opportunities
to look at community projects that require support from individuals and
organizations.
EUROMONEY CONFERENCE: Economic Development Board Oraganized the
Euromoney conference from 5-6 March, 2013 which was held at Ritz– Carlton

Bahrain hotel. The conference discussed on the current political stability,
hydrocarbon markets, regional financial surpluses, economic development and
investment priorities as well as the right strategy for 2013 up to 2014.
BAHRAIN BOAT SHOW INTERNATIONAL 2013: The 4th BBSI organized by
Knotika in cooperation with Amwaj Islands and Tamkeen was opened at Amwaj
Marina on 28- 30 March 2013. BBSI sailed to success. Thousands of visitors went
throughout the three days and enjoyed the largest display of boats and yachts in
the island. The event played host to an even greater number of International
exhibiting brands, exciting entertainment and activities for all ages.

4. Investment:
a. Opportunities for investments/assets on offer/major
company divestment:
FEBRUARY 2013
UAE: Bahrain signed an MOU with Abu Dhabi Development fund to support the
development projects in the Kingdom. The United Arab Emirates will grant
Bahrain $2.5 billion to help fund development projects in the Gulf Arab Country.
The money, to be disbursed on an annual basis over the next 10 years, would
finance the projects in housing, electricity , water, infrastructure and social
services. The grant is a part of the GCC Marshall Plan, through which Bahrain
will receive $10bn in aid from four countries over the next 10 years. Bahrain
has finished signing three agreements with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and U.A.E.
JAPAN: The visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa,
Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier of Bahrain
to Japan (20-22 March, 2013) reflects the strength and durability of relations
between the two countries dating back to 1934, when the first shipment of oil
from Bahrain to Japan took place. Japan and Bahrain signed a huge raft of
Memoranda of Understanding designed to promote economic co-operation and

joint investment. Thirteen agreements were signed between ministries,
organizations and private sector companies in the fields of healthcare and
pharmaceuticals, education and training, oil and gas and financial services. It
also reflects the Kingdom’s approach in building strong ties of Friendship with
major economic powers for the benefit of the country and people.
MALAYSIA: The visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa,
Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier of Bahrain
to Malaysia (22-23 March, 2013) pledged to strengthen economic partnership and
consolidate the kingdom’s status as a business gateway to markets in Gulf and
Middle East. The Malaysian reforms initiated by Bahrain to diversify its sources of
income has achieved sustainable development and thanked Malaysia for its
support for the steps taken by Bahrain to maintain its stability and security.

BABY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL: The Bahraini Business delegation has
clinched a BD 7m deal following they signed an MoU with a major health
care group of Kerala to set up a state of the art hospital in Bahrain. The 10
year deal was signed by Calicut based Baby Memorial Hospital, the 100-bed
Middle East Hospital in Bahrain. The Hospital will be the first ever multi-
storied Robot Parking Garage in Bahrain. The project is expected to
commence its operation by September 2013. The opening of the Middle East
Hospital, will be followed by the opening of a 50-bed BD3m hospital in
Muharraq and BD 2m Medical centre in Hidd.

Trade and Commercial delegation from Bahrain to India
Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister of
Bahrain HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa visited Kochi, commercial capital
of Kerala, on 18-19 March, 2013. This was the first official visit to the Kerala
state from a Royal family in the GCC. The visit was seen as a path-breaking
initiative to strengthen the ties between Bahrain and South–Western Indian State
which has sent the maximum number of workers to the Gulf and to Bahrain. A
high-level business delegation from Bahrain, including Transport Minister and
acting CEO of Economic Development Board of Bahrain, and prominent Indian and
Bahrain businessmen in Bahrain arrived in Kochi on 17th April. H.E. Prince Salman
was received at the airport by Mr. Oomen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala,
Minister of state for External Affairs Mr. E. Ahamed and other dignitaries. Massive
Investment in the tourism and service sectors of the Indian state of Kerala is on
the cards. The Bahraini Business delegation clinched a BD 7m deal following the
