Labour laws in India are considered to be quite old, outdated, rigid and over-protective in favour of labour. There seems to be no strong political will power to amend, rescind or replace them with more pragmatic, progressive and pro-industry dimensions. We are carrying our industries with the same set of laws despite several difficulties and adversities at the cost of growth and development. Trade unions have not played that kind of positive and constructive role which would have made industrial workers really motivated, productive and prosperous. Government machinery has also played the role of notorious monkey with two cats. Industrial relations have been maintained like in-dust-relations. Whatever industrial growth our country has made is a fraction of its true potential. Despite no effort to reform our archaic labour laws, some changes have come in from time to time out of judicial pronouncements and changes in demographic, educational, technical, global influences. It is important for captains of our industries to know, understand and harness these changes for the composite benefit of their establishments, employees and the nation. This workshop shall prove to be very useful take away opportunity to know the latest trends and contents in various labour laws.
