Cortizo Technology Centre
CORTIZO has at its headquarters in Padrón (A Coruña) Spain, a
Technology Centre which is a pioneer in Europe dedicated to the
research, development and innovation in the aluminium sector. With a
total surface area of 3,175 m², this Centre consists of 8 test benches
where the features of the more than 50 exclusive window and door
systems, light façades, solar protection systems and balustrade
designed by the company are tested and certified.
Two AEV test benches serve to check and guarantee the air permeability,
water tightness and wind resistance of its products. A thermal test bench
is employed to measure the features of all the systems with respect to
efficiency and energy savings. An accoustic test bench optimises the
protection that CORTIZO windows and façades offer against noise and
accoustic contamination. Finally, a test bench that simulates, for
example, 50,000 opening cycles of a window to test the resistance and
durability of its hardware and gaskets.
In addition, the Technological Centre has a test bench for horizontal
loads and impact resistance for light facades, a test bench for windloads
resistance for solar protection louvres and dynamic and static test
benches for balustrades
It is constantly clear that each time more documented certifications are
necessary just as in its project phase as in the execution of a building.
CORTIZO offers to the bodies of architects, constructors and fabricators,
the implementation of official tests in its Technology Centre free of
charge if the elements used in their project are CORTIZO. Also
available, is the possibility of assisting at a test to check in situ the
window features and to know at first hand the work that is being
developed by the various Architectural and Engineering teams.

Cortizo Sustainability
Sustainability constitutes a transverse commitment in all of the activities at CORTIZO and its workforce of more than 2,000
employees. The company can rely on more than 2,100 collection points spread between its clients and delegations so that
they can deposit the aluminium profile offcuts. A fleet of CORTIZO RECYLING trucks are responsibile in collecting the
aluminium and transferring it again to the production centres so that it can be taken to be smelted and in this way the
aluminium cycle is completed as 100 per cent reusable and recyclable.
Each CORTIZO production centre has its own purification plant in order to ensure the integral treatment of the residual waters
that are generated in the anodising and powder coating plants. The resulting sewage sludge from this purification process is
transported to collection plants that are specialised in the treatment of these residues ensuring the minimization of
environmental impact in all of the production processes.
