On a personal note, I attended a community college and it truly transformed my life. I had the good fortune to meet some faculty who believed in me and gave me hope. As a result of my community college experience, I had many great opportunities open up for me, and eventually earned my bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Lone Star College-North HarrisPart of the fast-growing Lone Star College, LSC-North Harris opened its doors in 1973. Known then as North Harris County College, it was the first and founding college of the Lone Star College System. Today the campus sits on 200 acres of piney woods and enrolls upwards of 18,000 students each semester, with another 4,000 students taking advantage of the college’s continuing and technical education classes and leisure learning opportunities.
Lone Star CoLLege-greenSpoint CenterLSC-Greenspoint Center is a state-of-the-art, full-service satellite center designed to serve the greater Greenspoint area. Its proximity to local businesses and public transportation, has created a location ideal for working and non-traditional students. The facility offers a selection of day, evening and weekend credit courses, including university-transfer courses, certificates, computer/office skills, and developmental studies.
Lone Star CoLLege-ViCtory Center Regardless of the goal, LSC-Victory Center offers programs, classes and support that can lead to victory. A full-service satellite center, it brings the benefits of a first-class community college to the Acres Homes and Inwood Forest communities. The 85,000-square-foot facility offers academic classes, workforce training, adult education, the Victory Early College and more.

CHi LSC-nortH HarriS SCHooL of CoSmetoLogyThanks to a unique partnership with global hair-care company, Farouk Systems, the CHI LSC-North Harris School of Cosmetology offers industry-leading training in a variety of cosmetology careers. The school provides flexible certificate programs, with both part-time and full-time classes available. Students also receive hands-on experience at the facility’s salon, which provides discounted services to the public.

Transfer Anywhere.Associate DegreesLone Star College offers academic transfer degrees designed for students who will ultimately pursue a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. Degree plans for both Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees are available, depending on the goal of the student. All students are encouraged to speak with an advisor when choosing a degree plan.

Transfer CenterThe Transfer Center at LSC-North Harris is your destination for assistance and advising related to transferring to a university. The center and its staff can help you explore your transfer options and guide you through the process of applying and transferring. It is located on the second floor of the college’s Student Services Building.
Honors CollegeThe Honors College at Lone Star College offers students the advantages of a small “college within a college,” while still providing access to the extensive benefits available through Lone Star College. It offers a wide range of opportunities for honors students—from incoming freshman wanting to graduate with an Honors AA or Honors AS degree, to high-achieving students seeking to graduate with Honors distinction, to students interested in earning individual honors credit.
A limited number of incoming freshmen will be admitted as Chancellor’s Honors College Fellows. Recipients of this award will receive a full scholarship to pursue a course of study culminating in an Honors AA or AS degree. Contact the Honors College office for more information about honors eligibility.
Dual CreditDual credit is part of the Lone Star College System’s exceptional admissions program, designed specifically for high school juniors and seniors ready for college-level instruction. Students who demonstrate college readiness on a placement exam can earn college and required high school credits simultaneously by attending classes at their high school, through a Lone Star College campus, or online.

The CHI LSC-North Harris School of Cosmetology capitalizes on a unique partnership, which brings the world-renowned methods and products of Farouk Systems, Inc. to the high-demand cosmetology program of LSC-North Harris. Full-time and part-time offerings in cosmetology, esthetics, instruction and massage therapy are available at the CHI School.
Strategically located next to the Houston Northwest Medical Center, the new Health Professions Building offers convenient opportunities to combine real-world experience with the college’s first-rate curriculum and experienced faculty.
In addition to the proximity to north Houston’s largest provider of health care services, students can take advantage of the location’s Virtual Hospital, which features 20 patient simulators and includes intensive care, pediatric and birthing specialty rooms.
