Entering Geometry Summer Math Packet 2013
Dear Students,
This is your Summer Math Packet. Remember, if you were on a basketball team or a
baseball team you would practice all year for the season. A dancer or a musician
practices every day. And you wouldnt practice the last week before the performance orthe game. You would build up to the season and be ready to perform well!
The packet has been divided in to the four mathematical strands:
Number and Quantity
Measurement and Geometry
Statistics, Probability, and Discrete Mathematics
Algebra and Functions
Do a little of your Summer Math Packet each day. You are not expected to do all of
it on the first day or the last week. Pace yourself and do a little each week. Use theformula sheet on the next page when necessary.
Your Summer Packet will be used to analyze your strengths and weakness and assist
your teacher in helping you grow mathematically throughout the year.
You are expected to complete the math packet and return it on the first day of school.
Thank you and have a great summer!
Dear Parents/Guardian,
We have developed this math booklet to prepare students for their upcoming mathematics
course. Students need practice in mathematics over the summer months. The
mathematics content covered in this packet is an essential component of your studentscourse next year. Students are expected to complete the packet and return it on the first
day of school.
Many students may need your support working out a plan to complete the packet
successfully. By fostering a positive approach about math at home, we can help our
students learn important math skills and concepts and assure success.
Sincerely,
The Secondary Mathematics Department
