And so while you summonthe litany of worldsyour own words fashionyou annul my existenceand those of millionswhose narratives you say betray poetic tonemake burlesque of beautyand thus like scarecrowsset even the most hereticmuses scurrying backto their sanctum of rules.
And so in recollectingyour epiphaniesyou elude the voidwhich is my hungerthe famine of millionsthe empty bowl of history.
And so with your eulogiesto passionto rage against timeto pledge with life’s gi you lull the birthof noiseof revengeof bloodshowthat shall feed millionscomplete historyand perhaps spare poetry.

Who is Ericson Acosta?
Ericson Acosta is an artist, journalist and cultural worker illegally arrested by members o the Armed Forces o the Philippines (AFP) on February 13, 2011 in Barangay Bay-ang, San Jorge,Samar province in the Eastern Visayan region. He aces trumped-up charges o illegal possession o explosives and is currently detained at the Calbayog City sub-provincial jail.
Ericson Acosta is an activist rom the University o the Philippines (UP), the country’s premiere stateuniversity. During the ‘90s, he served as editor o thePhilippine Collegian , UP’s o cial studentpublication. He is a ormer chairperson o the student cultural group Alay Sining , and o the campusallianceSTAND-UP. He was also a member o the Amnesty International in UP.
He has worked in the media as segment writer or V station ABS-CBN’s Wanted V Patrol and asassistant entertainment section editor o the national broadsheet Manila imes.
His works as a writer, poet, thespian, singer and songwriter have remained relevant especially tosucceeding generations o activists, in and out o the university. He helped in the re-establishment o theConcerned Artists of the Philippines , and has worked closely with the peasant sector. His bias or thepoor and oppressed dates back to his campus days.
On February 13, 2011, government troopers in San Jorge, Samar arrested him on mere suspicion that heis a member o the New People’s Army. Ericson was unarmed, carrying only a laptop and some personalbelongings, and in the company o a local barangay o cial when he was arrested without warrant. He washeld or three days without charges and subjected to continuous tactical interrogation by the military. A
alsifed charge o illegal possession o explosives was levied against him and he was eventually detained atthe Calbayog sub-provincial jail.
His rights continue to be violated each day he remains incarcerated. Te abricated charges are intended tokeep him under government scrutiny and control. In a photo released to media by the AFP, Ericson’s rail
appearance urther heightens concerns or his health, more so in view o his dismal prison conditions.
