Geometry 4-5
ASA, AAS, and HL
Vocab. Word
An included side is the common side of two consecutive angles in a polygon. (The side in between two angles)
• If two angles and the included side of one triangle are congruent to two angles and the included side of another triangle, then those two triangles are congruent.
Angle-Side-Angle (ASA)
Can ASA be used to determine congruency?
1)
2)
Angle-Angle-Side (AAS)
• If two angles and a non-included side of one triangle are congruent to the corresponding angles and non-included side of another triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
Can AAS be used to determine congruency?
Hypotenuse-Leg (HL) (only works for right triangles)
• If the hypotenuse and a leg of a right triangle are congruent to the hypotenuse and leg of another triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
Can HL be used to determine congruency?
