APPROACH
The Mecserve team prides itself on its ability to work with a range of project stakeholders, to design
to programme and cost and to implement creative and innovative solutions applying appropriate
technologies to solve complex problems.
Above all, we strive to meet with our clients' objectives every step of the way.

and across disciplines, enhancing our ability to provide the most effective solutions.
EXPERIENCE
Mecserve has played a key role on many varied projects, managing building services, engineering
and design. We have worked for our clients over a number of years on frameworks, to deliver
projects across the UK. We are responsive to today's changing environment and continually advise
our clients on new products, services and innovations.
We've worked on a multitude of award winning projects. Not only that, the three times we've entered
The Building Awards, we're proud to say that we've been finalists for the Construction Consultant of the
Year award each and every time.
INTRODUCTION TO MECSERVE
PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is to design reliable engineering services for buildings which ensure the comfort,
health and well-being of their occupants. We aim to produce buildings that function well, in addition
to achieving energy efficiency with minimal environmental impact.
From single dwelling projects, all the way up to £125m construction projects - every development
has the same care and attention it deserves, no matter the size.
RELATIONSHIPS AND COMMUNICATION
We take the time to understand our client's specific business requirements in order to develop the
services design brief that most suits their needs. We meet our clients and other key stakeholders at
the start of the project and then on as many other occasions as is required throughout the project's
duration in order to ensure that our client's vision is on-track.
We listen to our clients, are responsive to changes, and deliver on our promises, with an emphasis
on time-management, cost and quality.
Mecserve understands that clients frequently require buildings to be delivered 'fast-track', which
often requires complex sequencing and out-of-hours working in occupied buildings – and our team
possess the coordination and communication skills to deliver these challenging projects.
Building constructive relationships with contractors and sub-contractors is critical to the success of
what we do, and we always work closely with contractors to ensure a high-quality product. For
example, by encouraging them to erect an early sample of work which sets a benchmark quality
standard we have found that we are able to avoid delays as a consequence of abortive work.
It is important to us that we deliver the design intent that we have promised our client and recognise
the importance of commissioning and the validation process to ensure that the completed
installation meets requirements.
We believe that those who work with us find us to be engaged, open and approachable, to the
benefit of everyone involved in the projects we deliver.
CAPABILITY & EXPERIENCE
Healthcare is undergoing huge change,
driven by the introduction of new
technologies at ever-increasing pace and
the more demanding expectations of
today's users.
Mecserve has the experience to deliver
projects for today's Healthcare market and can
demonstrate this through our experience of
delivering both new-build facilities and
refurbishing existing buildings with their
inherent challenges.
We have worked on term commissions for two
different providers providing a fully designed
3D Revit service for their programmes of new-
build aged care homes. We have acted as
principal M&E consultant and advisor, been
responsible for M&E product development to
bring new ideas and cost efficiencies to both
existing and future schemes as well as
providing pre-planning advice.
Our innovative solutions can be found in the
unlikeliest of places. We have installed multiple
state-of-the-art scanning units (including
Magnetic Resonance Imaging [MRI], EOS
Imaging Systems upright linear CT scanner and
Paramed MrOpen) in historical buildings, a
number of which were listed or in conservation
areas. We have altered existing services in
complicated configurations in tight spaces to
accommodate the substantial power,
ventilation and cooling requirements for the
equipment. Great care has also been taken to
minimise acoustic disturbance and to meet
stringent planning restrictions affecting
external plant.
Our teams of Building Services Engineers work
with clients, architects and contractors in the
development of innovative, sustainable and
cost-effective Healthcare and Senior Living
communities and services. Our teams can
harness the appropriate resources to meet the
varying needs of our clients and their projects.
Our sustainability and environmental
professionals have the skills, experience and
commitment to realise the sustainable building
and property aspirations of our clients.
The appropriateness of each solution is key to
the successful outcome of our projects. We aim
to ensure that the design meets objectives in
terms of resilience, flexibility, life cycle costs,
efficiency and the environmental and
sustainable impact.

Nuada, 45 Queen Anne Street, London Healthcare – Fit-Out
Mecserve was contracted to design and develop the fit-out of the lower ground & ground floor of the Nuada Medical Specialist Imaging premises on Queen Anne Street, in London.
Existing Building Services were altered and new services installed to accommodate the installation of an MRI scanner. This included the associated roof mounted plant, quench pipe, cooling, ventilation, heating and domestic water supplies.
Finally, the existing LV supply was boosted by the installation of a UPS so as to avoid the need for a UKPN HV supply/sub-station within the building.

Signature – Ascot Grange, Sunninghill Multi-Residential – New Build Care Facility
Mecserve provided the design of the Building Services, Lifts and Sustainability for the new Signature senior care home at Sunninghill across more than 65,500 ft2 of accommodation.
Following completion of the detailed design, Mecserve were novated to Wates construction, and our Value Engineering skills were required to bring the project within budget. The proximity of other properties bordering the site also posed some challenges during construction.
Energy efficient measures included CHP and VRV air source heat pumps, and the scheme is targeting a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating. There is underfloor heating throughout.
This was our first project for this client and our challenge was to understand their expectations and the design principles.
We developed good working relationship with the client and the rest of the design team.
We brought value by utilising our experience of working in this sector and experience working with the design team on other projects.

At the MRC ambulances are prepared by a team of specialists who clean, restock and check the equipment on ambulances before the beginning and at the end of every shift. Under the Make Ready programme, vehicles are regularly deep-cleaned and swabbed for the presence of micro-organisms including MRSA and CDiff.
Each vehicle is fully stocked to a standardised specification with equipment checked and serviced regularly. To reduce the risk of vehicle breakdowns, on-site vehicle maintenance exerts are on-hand to undertake routine checks and maintenance.
This facility includes extensive training facilities, offices and changing rooms. The workshop area was fitted out with vehicle hoists, compressed air systems and dedicated vehicle extract systems.

European Scanning Centre, 68 Harley Street Healthcare – Refurbishment and Excavation
Mecserve was appointed to design the services associated with the installation of an EOS Imaging Systems upright linear CT scanner and a Paramed MrOpen upright open MRI scanner at the European Scanning Centre in Harley Street.
The MrOpen is a novel U-shaped fully open and upright MRI scanner using superconductor technology derived from the CERN project. This unique Nobel-Prize winning technology, avoids the need for liquid helium cooling making the scanner much safer, faster and quieter. Its fully open nature allows dynamic and weight bearing images to be acquired in an upright and thus weight bearing posture replicating the position of maximum symptoms. Such images are not possible to obtain in conventional MRIs.
This world class facility was constructed in the basement of this historic, 1920s building within one of Westminster's prime conservation areas. The work entailed excavating below the building, diverting the existing drainage to accommodate the MrOpen equipment. The cooling plant for the facility was housed in a purpose built acoustic enclosure with a low noise condenser located in a light well to the rear of the building.
We have subsequently completed several other facilities for European Scanning Centre, including Cardiff and Manchester.
