PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
Holy Sepulcher Parish is a warm, welcoming, faith-filled family dedicated to following Jesus Christ through Scripture and the Traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. United through Baptism, nourished by the Eucharist and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are committed to serving our brothers and sisters. We welcome all to join us as we
celebrate the joy and mystery of the empty tomb.
W e shout “Alleluia” to the Good News that the Risen Lord brings us fullness of life everlasting. In prayer, in song, in being together for our Easter Celebration, we personalize and deepen our baptismal commitment to living in faith.
We look forward to making the Easter commitment with you this year. May the Risen Lord continue to give you hope, increase your faith, and let you feel His ever-abiding love in each and every moment of your lives. All Liturgies today are being offered for you, your intentions, and those you love!
Sincerely in the Risen Lord, Father Robert J. Cedolia, Pastor Deacon David S. Miller Sister Anna Marie Gaglia, C.S. J., School Principal Ms. Ashley Blystone, School Assistant Principal School Faculty and Staff Sister Benita DeMatteis, Director of Faith Formation Rachael Horstman, Faith Formation Administrative Assistant Ms. Joni Mulvaney, Coordinator of Youth & Young Adult Ministries Ms. Madlyn DeRito, Director of Music Mrs. Joan Tosto, Business Manager Mrs. Joanne Castello, Administrative Assistant to the Pastor Ms. Dana Knox, Parish Secretary Mr. Greg Gillis, EDGE Coordinator
We would like to express our sincere
thanks for the many signs of your love during Easter. All your cards and gifts were very much appreciated and make us grateful to be a part of Holy Sepulcher Parish. Your generous response to the Easter Collection shows your great love for your parish.
We also wish to express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all those who helped in any special way to make the Easter Triduum a beautiful and spiritual experience in the lives of the people of Holy Sepulcher. To all volunteers who have given their time and talents to decorate our Church, your hard work truly made our Church bright with color and the freshness of spring, symboliz-ing the new life of Easter. To Madlyn DeRito, our Music Director, and the Adult Choir and Music ministers, whose talent enhance the Easter Triduum; their voices and music filled our
church with the glorious joy of this Sacred Season. To the Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers and Altar Servers, your involvement in our worship helped make our Sacred Liturgies very special for all those who attended.
May God Bless you and your families with the many gifts of this Easter Season.
With our sincere thanks and constant prayers, Father Robert J. Cedolia, Deacon David Miller Parish Staff
Easter Reflection When Christians are asked the meaning of Easter, they
refer to the resurrection of Jesus. It is the day for telling the wondrous story: Mary Magdalene saw the stone
moved away, Peter went in and saw the wrappings on the
ground, and the beloved disciple saw and believed. The
faith of contemporary believers builds on their testimony.
It is our festival of life, for the boldness of God’s love
snatched victory from the jaws of death. Our memories
and rituals unite us with that event which was so
disconcerting, marvelous and liberating.
Sunday after Sunday, and especially at this greatest
Sunday of the year, we enter events which show Easter as more than a once-upon-a
-time event. We bless and share a meal that shapes us as the Body of Christ. We
sing alleluias and say the good news still takes flesh in our world. We color eggs
and enjoy feasts without need of a rational explanation. The pull to dress finely may
be marred by commercialism or a drive for status, but we know our winter has
passed and new life is here. In these and in so many other ethnic customs, we renew
life just as we renew our baptismal commitment. More correctly, we rest in awe
before the One who renews life and provides the possibility of commitment.
The reading from Colossians highlights still another dimension of this day. Implicit
within all these celebrations, there is a sense of future. We can be intent on “things
above rather than things of earth.” Easter is a promise of the end time. Our festivals
take place in a sinful world, in an imperfect Church. In them we taste that time we
will all be in glory.

This is the Day the Lord has Made, Let Us Rejoice and Be Glad! Christ is risen! When all hope seemed to be lost through the suffering and death of Jesus, He rose from the dead and transformed the sorrow and grief of loss to the glory and joy of new life. On Mission for The Church Alive! will bring us new life as we discover how to serve God and others in new and more effective ways. Let’s not wait to reach out and grow the Church in Pittsburgh. Who can we share the joy and peace of the risen Lord with today as we are renewed in hope? Visit www.OnMissionChurchAlive.org to stay involved.

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
“ This is the day the Lord
has made; let us rejoice
and be glad.” The tomb is empty! After
weeks of drawing near to
Christ’s suffering and Death,
we joyously celebrate his Res-
urrection! How blessed are
we to belong to Jesus, who
knows our pain, suffering, and
sin yet offers us hope through
his mercy, forgiveness and
love. We are witnesses to the
power of God who raised Jesus from the dead. We are so
blessed to be gifted with this Good News and given the
command to be “witnesses” of this gift to others. As the
alleluias ring out today in the liturgy, feel the spirit of
rejoicing in every muscle and every cell of your body. Feel
what it is to be fully and completely basking in the glow of
God’s grace on this day. Whole heartedly, allow the spirit
of celebration to take over.

SEDER MEAL
Each year, before the Easter break, our students participate in the Seder Meal. This is a prayer service that includes a festive meal and is a remembrance of the first night of Passover in the Jewish tradition. It is the Old Testament Story of the Exodus, the story of how the Israelites were freed from slavery. The prayer service is led by the 8th grade and the entire student body and faculty will participate. The meal consists of traditional foods served at a Seder: lamb, hard boiled eggs, grape juice, haroses (chopped apples), parsley, radishes, and matzah (unleavened bread).
We Wish You All a Very Blessed Easter.

The Chinese Auction Committee needs YOUR help. After Easter, the Bulletin Board will be up and running with idea donations to help fill our Auction Baskets or place in the Auction room.
Our theme this year “PLEASE “CHEWS” A GUMBALL TO HELP FILL
THE BASKETS” which will display a gumball machine and hundreds of
Gumballs to choose from. Every gumball listed is designated for a
theme basket or to raffle. All items on the board range from $5.00 to
$50.00. For every item that is DONATED, that will save us money to
use for higher end items to purchase and raffle off.
♦ All gift cards on the board will be used to put in baskets, or to purchase items for a basket. If you choose to use the Scrip Program that the Church offers, many gift cards on the board may be purchased through Scrip. (Contact the office or go on line: www.shopwithscrip.com for more information.)
♦ A list of Basket Ideas will also be set up on a table under the Bulletin Board. If you choose to do a basket of any kind, let us know, or sign up for one we suggested. Remember, if you don’t want to put it together, we can do that for you.
♦ Don’t want to shop, but want to help? Let us do the shopping for you. A gift card, or monetary donation is very much appreciated.
♦ You may also consider going in with friends or family members for larger items and baskets. This could be a win-win situation for everyone.
IMPORTANT INFO- ALL DONATIONS MUST BE IN ON OR BEFORE JULY 29th. THE EARLIER THE BETTER!!! All items can be dropped off in the coat room, and marked CHINESE AUCTION. All monetary, gift card donations or gift certificates can be dropped off in the office, OR put in the Sunday Collection Basket marked Chinese Auction.
We have one of the largest Chinese auctions in the area, and it is because of your generosity. All money raised goes toward the church and the school. We are a Church family and we want to keep that going. For more information or any questions, please contact Linda Armstrong 724-444-6452 or email [email protected].
