The ProcessStep by Step
Fill out a paper application every semester; Honors staff will verify your eligibility
Choose a class you are currently enrolled in and ask the instructor for approval to complete an Honors project (only courses at the 100+ level)
Fill out and upload a CEP in Canvas – Be sure to agree on a presentation date with your instructor (note - Cohort classes don’t require a CEP)
Create your Honors project and present it to your class
Upload a copy of your Honors project in Canvas by the designated deadline
Attend one Honors-sponsored event/co-curricular activity - Be sure to upload your full 2-page summary into Canvas by the designated deadline
Print out an End of Semester Checklist, complete it, and you hand deliver it to the Honors office by the designated deadline

Scholarship Award Amounts
Amount award is based on the number of credit hours currently enrolled in (summer excluded):
The maximum award is $500 per semester per student to assist with college tuition, registration fees, books or supplies. Your award is disbursed to you a few weeks after the semester ends.
If you complete more than one Honors project per semester, you are awarded scholarship money for one project and Honors points for all projects.

This is a traditional class that reserves some seats for Honors students
You are required to submit a CEP through Canvas by the designated deadline
Create an Honors project that is pre-approved by your instructor
Present the project in class by a date agreed upon with your instructor
Upload your project into Canvas after presenting and then you hand deliver a completed End of Semester Checklist to the Honors Department by the designated deadline
Honors-Only Cohort Class
Cohort means:
“a group of people banded together or treated as a group”
Cohort classes have all Honors students in them with the project already built in
You may take a Cohort class, but it is not required
You do not fill out a CEP for a Cohort class
You must attend one Honors-sponsored event/co-curricular activity each semester.
After logging into Canvas, click on “Calendar” near the top left of the page.
Then click on “EMC Fall 2015 Honors Achievement” to view dates and times.
Honors-Sponsored Events/ Co-Curricular Activities
After attending an event or co-curricular activity, you must submit a typed summary into Canvas by the designated deadline. Requirements are:
2 full pages long Size 12 font 1-inch margins all around double-spaced

After presenting your project, find this form in the “Assignments” section of your Honors Canvas:

Honors Transcripts Distinction
Earn 15 Honors Points for Transcripts Distinction:
Every course you submit an Honors project in, those credit hours count as points (for example, an
ENG 101 class is 3 credit hours – which equals 3 points)
Classes chosen for Honors projects must have different prefixes (i.e. MAT, BIO, PSY, ENG, etc.)
15 points and a 3.5 to 3.74 cumulative GPA designates Honors Program Graduate
15 points and a 3.75 to 4.0 cumulative GPA designates Honors Program Graduate with Distinction

Scholarship Opportunities
*All-USA Scholarship (Fall semester)This is an annual competition open to students who will be transferring on to an accredited 4-year institution of higher education. This scholarship pays two full years of tuition to one of our three Arizona public universities (ASU, NAU, or U of A) with money awarded for transfer: Link to Scholarship Flier
*Chancellor's Scholarship (Spring semester)Offered to one student at each college annually, selected by a college committee. It awards an amount up to 18 letter graded credits of in-county tuition and the registration fee for each semester, plus $250 each semester for books and supplies. To be eligible, a current full-time Honors student must enroll at the college awarding the scholarship on a full-time basis for the following year, and maintain an MCCCD cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
*Maricopa Colleges Faculty Foundation Scholarship (Spring & Fall semester)This scholarship is awarded based upon the college Honors Coordinator’s decision. Amounts can vary.
