How C Culainn got his name
Conor, the King of Ireland had fierce warriors called the Red Branch Knights
King Conor had a clever nephew called Setanta
Setanta wanted to be a Red Branch Knight but he was too young
Setanta loved to play hurling
Setanta asked again to join the Red Branch Knights
He stayed at home & worked on the farm
Storytellers visited & told great stories of the Red Branch Knights
That night, Setanta decided to run away and join the Red Branch Knights
He met King Conor and the king said he could stay
The king was going to a party. Setanta was playing hurling.
When the game finished, Setanta went to the party. A mad dog was on guard!
The dog attacked. Setanta hit the ball & killed the hound
Culainn, the host no longer had a dog to guard his home
Setanta offered to help & guard Culainns house
Thats how Setanta got a new name C Culainn or hound of Culann
