How to Boost Your Shaklee Business Using Business Cards
of 802
Introduction
of 803
A young network marketer was standing in the pants department of Nordstrom
looking for a new pair of pants and he overheard the salesperson selling a lady
on a sports coat for her husband.
of 804
She had given a few solid objections to which the salesperson eloquently diffused
and after he explained in detail the many benefits of each of the jacket's features,
she eventually chose to purchase it.
of 805
The networker was so impressed with this salesperson that after the lady had paid and left, he went up to the salesperson and commented
on how he also had experience in retail and how impressed he was with how he handled that
sale.
of 806
The salesperson was pleasantly surprised to receive such kind feed from out of the blue.
of 807
After some small talk, the networker went on to say that his company was expanding
and looking for people just like him.
of 808
He then handed him a business card and asked if the sales pro was open to new opportunities.
To which the sales pro smiled and said: “Absolutely".
of 809
The networker, introduced himself and then asked if he could get his email address
so he could send him a link to his website, and the salesperson was happy to offer it.
of 8010
The two shook hands and the networker, said he needed to get going to meet a client and would be in
touch.
of 8011
Later that night, the networker opened his email and there was a response form from his
website with the complete details of the salesperson
he'd met earlier that day.
of 8012
The networker was elated. That networker was me.
=
of 8013
If I had not had a business card with me that day, I would have lost that opportunity.
of 8014
I certainly wouldn't have come across as a professional
if I only asked him for his email without being able to give anything to show that was for real, and not just
some weirdo trying to collect email addresses.
of 8015
Now this may seem like a simple thing to do, however unbeknownst to most, the type of card I gave that day
isn't the only type of card.
of 8016
There's at least 2 cards you want to carry in your holder
and you need to know when to use which card.
of 8017
It's also important to know what to say when you're going to give out the card,
depending on your situation.
of 8018
Exposure = Leads = Success
of 8019
If you're not constantly exposing your business to new prospects, it's going to be very hard
to build a business.
of 8020
It is sad, but true.
of 8021
Unfortunately, most network marketing distributor’s talk to a few people they know in their warm market
and after that, they never develop the skill sets that allow them to create an ongoing flow of prospects
for their business.
of 8022
But it doesn't have to be this way.
of 8023
The reality is, if you're not using at least 2-3 promotional methods each week, you're going to struggle to create momentum
in your business.
of 8024
In this webinar, I'll cover one method every Shaklee distributor should be using
to develop their business.

Business Cards
of 8026
Building a business is still about numbers. For you to get from where you are right now, to where you want to go
in your business, there is X number of people you are going to need to show the opportunity to before that goal becomes a reality.
of 8027
Everyone’s number is different. The faster you can increase how many people have been exposed to what you're offering, the faster you'll get to your number.
of 8028
And the more people you can promote to, the less emotionally attached to the result you'll be.
of 8029
And the more people you can connect with, the bigger the network you’ll have to promote to.
of 8030
Why use business cards
of 8031
Think of business cards as your secret weapon when it comes to marketing.
Every time you hand out a business card, you are giving out a tiny brochure promoting your business without even realizing it.
of 8032
Business cards come in all shapes, sizes and colors. When they have a powerful message and are presented in a way that is memorable,
they can be a marketing tool that leaves a lasting impression.
It is hard to imagine a marketing tool that is more portable.
of 8033
However, a recent survey shows that 90% of all business cards end up in the trash can within a day. Fewer than 1% are kept for 30 days. The information displayed on your business card can play a large role in determining whether your card is stashed or trashed.
of 8034
Dr. Lynella Grant, author of The Business Card Book, gives eight reasons why people usually keep business cards:
1. As a link to a potential customer or client
2. As a link to a resource or as a supplier
3. As a link to a colleague
4. For social / non-business reasons
5. To use for referring business (to pass on to someone else)
6. To update information
7. Reluctance to part with it because “you never know”
8. Because of something that is likable, unusual or useful about
the person or the card
of 8035
Do you still need business cards in this digital age?
of 8036
Your business card in this digital age is not dead. Unlike with cell phones and wireless hot spots, there are no “dead spots” or internet outages.
of 8037
Use them at a remote fishing camp
or at an industry conference in a mid-city phones are restricted, suchas on airplanes or in hospitals.
of 8038
You know the old saying, “Early to bed and early to rise, work like heck and advertise”.
of 8039
One of the great things with the lead generation strategies, is that if you persist, the return on your investment isguaranteed over time.
And promoting your business with business cards is no different.

What do you do with a Promo card?
of 8060
- Give them out when you do have time to create conversation / contact
Ex: At the checkout the grocery, At the drive-through, Waiters and Waitresses
of 8061
• Leave them on bank machines
• Leave one in books related to our business in the book store
• Give them to hotel employees
of 8062
• Put in envelopes when you're sending snail mail bills
• Do a minimum of 10 cards per day
of 8063
What NOT to do with Promo cards
of 8064
- Don't put them in obvious places
- Don't have a trail of cards
of 8065
of 8066
Have a short sentence ready. Something like… "My company is expanding and we're looking for a few great people who'd like to earn an extra income working online. If you know someone interested in being an online entrepreneur please give them this card."
The key is not to pitch. All you're trying to do is create curiosity.
Hand out the card and walk away. Don't try to tell them about the business, or the products.
