ACTION DONE
1. PRAY, before going any further with this action page.
2. Return to the “Standard Setting” diagram. List your most common expressions of Godship.
3. Go to the “God’s Prerogatives” diagram. Pray each item aloud.
Example: “Lord, I agree it is You alone who has the prerogative to determine standards and conduct
for mankind.”
4. In reference to diagram G-103, list out the ways in which you decide what is good and evil.
5. List all relationships in which you have conflict and the ways you tend to “control” these individuals.
6. List each and every way you step outside the boundaries of God.
7. Go to God in prayer and admit the following:
Admit your sin of trying to play God
Confess your “standard” expressions
Confess the list of ways in which you attempt to decide what is “good” and “evil”
Confess the ways you attempt to control people
Confess the ways you step outside of the boundaries of God
Accept His forgiveness for you and then, spend some time praising Him for your healing

Key Truth: External/Internal
Indwelt Christians need to be delivered from the deception that life is found externally in things, or people, or in Christian service. If believers do not know which external things or people that motivate them to change by self-effort, they cannot yield these idols to Christ for absolute deliverance and identity exchange.
Key Verse
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 – “For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory
far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
Goals in Discipleship
To identify the idols in his/her life that need to be confessed. Christ is inviting us to admit to God that our focus has been in the wrong direction and that He wants to rule our lives through the great exchange of “Not I, but Christ.”

Call a friend for advice before going to Christ. Turn to food, drugs, and other externals to fill the vacuum. Try to figure it out with your own mind. Turn to external “self-help” resources to “figure it out.” Buy something to distract you from the pain. Get more education to solve the problem. Get angry or become a “control freak” to get results. Work harder to overcome. Get overly busy to try to forget the real problem. Give money, time, and effort to soothe your conscience. Get divorced or get a new spouse. Move from church to church until you find an “ear tickler.” Sleeping to escape the overwhelming circumstances.
Lastly, they call on God!

ACTION DONE
1. Pray before you go any further with this action page.
2. Make a list of all the externals noted in diagram E/I-100 that you tend to find fulfillment.
3. Make a list of all the noted externals, by placing them in two columns – negative (problem
areas) and positive (not a problem).
4. On diagram E/I-101, list the items with which you tend to stay busy, distracting you from the
release of Christ in you.
5. Take these three lists, bring them before God, and repent for attempting to find fulfillment or
significance in each of these items. Accept His forgiveness (for such acts of idolatry) and
ask for the sweet release of the Life of Christ in and though you, by means of the
representation of the Holy Spirit.
6. For the next 10 days, meditate on these identity statements:
† God does not honor or support self-effort
† Christ desires to work through me
† There is no life in external people, places, or things
† Christ can live through me in spite of the external
† Looking internally to Christ is the way, truth, and life
† The fruit of the Spirit is the manifestations of Christ
† Fruit is a result – not an action to practice
† Releasing Christ to wear the crown is life
† Studying the Word is essential to growth in Christ

Key Truth: Problems
Indwelt Christians need problems! God allows problems or trials in our lives to bring us to the end of our self-life, or to an issue in which we are being selfish. God has a purpose for all conflict and difficulties, for it is certain to lead us to the inward life of Christ. For the unsaved, it could lead them to the great exchange – Salvation.
Key Verse
Romans 8:28 – “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
Goals in Discipleship
With Christ’s assistance, identifying the areas in the indwelt Christian’s life that are stealing their rest and die to it; and thanking God for the trials, issues, and/or people which are possible contributors.

DISCERNING THE FLESH
TEST YOUR MOTIVES: Proverbs 18:1
Are my decisions to benefit my FLESH?• Am I doing it for my self-interest? (Phil. 2:3-4)• Is it against God’s Word? (Ps. 119:11)• Is it contrary to those in authority? (Rom. 13:1; Heb. 13:17)• Am I feeling frustrated, angry, or fearful? (Gal. 5:16-21)• Is there a lack of contentment and of God’s peace? (1 Tim. 6:6)
If so, the result is DEATH, LOSS, AND CORRUPTION!
Are my decisions through the Spirit from within?• Am I doing it in and through Christ? (2 Cor. 5:15)• Am I acknowledging God’s sovereign control in everything
and trusting Him to work things out through me? (Rom. 8:28)• Am I confident that Christ is in control? (Gal. 5:1)• Am I free from self-condemnation? (Rom. 8:28)
If so, the result is LIFE, PEACE, AND GRACE!

Key Truth: Repentance
Indwelt Christians need to repent often. Sin cannot be ignored in the life of and indwelt believer. When we turn away from God and sin, we must turn back to Him through repentance. Forgiveness is an act of Jesus Christ that is to be claimed and not “begged.” His final act of forgiveness is eternal and forever lasting: past, present, and future.
Key Verse
Romans 8:9 – “However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.”
Goals in Discipleship
To teach the design and function of the Natural Man (unsaved), the Spiritual Man (saved), and the Carnal Man (believer walking AFTER their flesh). To help identify where believers are currently walking after their flesh, come to an honest appraisal, and repent. Through this, the believer can walk in the Spirit.

CONSIDERING TURNING
Considering your way begins with an HONEST APPRAISAL.
HONEST APPRAISAL leads to as clear a statement as is possible
for you to make, as WHAT IS: that is, what the TRUTH is about
your own purposes, motives, methods, and patterns – without the
varnish of self-protection, without enhancing or guarding your
reputation, and without using devious means to maintain
personal objectives.
One difficulty encountered is that of avoiding, or procrastination.
Honest appraisal must be undertaken, in obedience to Christ in
you, without waiting for the feelings to line up. Honesty requires
facing the Truth.
The following items are suggested:
1. Pray specifically for God to reveal your “own way” or your
self-life.
2. Wait upon God, listen to Him. Record what God reveals.
3. Allow yourself no excuses, rationalizations, or alibis.
The purpose of HONEST APPRAISAL is to bring about in you a
heart of cooperation in line with the Holy Spirit, in which change
of MIND, change of WILL, and change of feelings may follow.
HONEST APPRAISAL leads to TURNING.
† Quit doing what you are doing
† Choose to appropriate the Life of Christ in you to
empower right decisions.
† Admit your sin(s) to the Lord and thank Him for
forgiveness.
† Admit your wrong to those you offended and seek
their forgiveness. (see Reconciliation chapters)
† Make restitution, when necessary.
† Walk in the freedom of who Christ is in you and
your identity in Christ.
† Make a decision to be a person of repentance,
forgiveness, and restitution.
Note: Forgiveness is a onetime price paid by Christ on the Cross. Therefore, do not ask, beg, or attempt to convince Christ of forgiving you. Simply accept His forgiveness!

Key Truth: Identity Matters
An indwelt Christian is a new creation. The born-again believer has been given a regenerate spirit – that of Christ Jesus. The “old self,” “old man,” or “old nature,” has been crucified with Christ and is to be considered dead and gone. Meaning and purpose in life should now flow from this new identity.
Key Verse
Galatians 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
Goals in Discipleship
To reveal our true and heavenly purpose of demonstrating the very Life of Christ through our mind, will, emotions, and body. It is in and through our new identity that believers have a new intimacy, indwelt obedience, dependence, and love relationship with Christ from within.

Key Truth: Righteousness
Indwelt Christians need to stop living for acceptance from others and begin living from the acceptance given through Christ. He accepts the believer as righteous. As each convert walks in their new identity, their mind is being renewed and they will then believe what Christ says about them is true, in order to make the choice to walk in and after the Spirit.
Key Verse
Romans 5:19 - "For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.”
Goals in Discipleship
It is imperative we show all indwelt believers where they are placing their faith and works – in and through the Life of Christ or by means of self-effort (which produces more unrighteous-ness).

Key Truth: Extending Forgiveness
Indwelt Christians are required by God to forgive as they have been forgiven. We must forgive anyone who has hurt us and against whom we hold anything. Freedom from anger and pain can come by extending forgiveness before God in prayer.
Key Verse
Colossians 3:13 - “Bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.”
Goals in Discipleship
It is imperative we show all indwelt believers the power of forgiveness. It should be our goal to identify any and all individuals who have hurt those we are discipling and to reveal the details of how to extend forgiveness in prayer.

FORGIVING OTHERSPurpose Statement
Offering forgiveness, in and through Christ, to those who have hurt you is one of the most freeing actions you can demonstrate here on earth. This homework assignment will include listing: the act, your hurt, the ramifications, and your sinful reactions to the way the offender hurt you. Once you have done this, you will need to depend upon the Eternal Forgiver who lives and indwells you – Christ. If you are not a Christian (never have asked Christ into your life), these actions will be temporary and not eternal.
Offering Forgiveness Is Not . . .It is not “acting” as if it does not bother you anymore. It is not disregarding, tolerating, excusing, overlooking, or closing your eyes to the wrong another person has done against you. It is not “letting time pass” after the offense has been committed. It is not “forgetting” or “pretending” that the offense happened. It is not “resigning” yourself to the other person’s actions by saying, “Oh well, it’s just the way he/she is.”
Key Statement:Forgiveness is functioning with another as if he or she never committed the offense in the first place. Without true forgiveness, you will stay resentful; lack in joy; and act offended any time you see, hear of, or meet someone who reminds you of this offender.
Process of Offering Forgiveness1. Make four lists. Column #1: List how the offender hurt you. Column #2: List how you felt regarding the hurt. Column #3: List the

Extending Forgiveness – Offense and Hurt
“Sufficient for such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by the majority, so that on the contrary you should rather forgive and comfort him, otherwise such a one might be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.” 2 Corinthians 2:6-7
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I have sinned against You, the Heavenly Father, and ___________ (person who offended you) by harboring resentment, hurtfulness, and bitterness for his/her offense against me. Please cleanse me from these sins. I now unconditionally forgive ____________ for the wrong/s (list out before God) committed against me. I ask You would reclaim all ground in my life, which Satan’s kingdom has claimed against me, because of my unforgiveness and bitterness. In the name of Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit, I stand against any lies and powers of darkness, which were assigned against me because of my unforgiving ways. I submit myself to You and ask that You turn me into a vessel of forgiveness.
I choose now to love ______with Your love, acceptance, and forgiveness. I offer myself up to You as a living sacrifice, to be used by You to rebuild the relationship if You deem it necessary. I pray You would empower me with the strength I need to go to ______and seek their forgiveness for my part of the offense and for my reactions. I ask You would cover me with the power of Your grace and mercy. It is in the Forgiver’s name (Jesus Christ) I pray – Amen. E

REPENTANCE – Ramifications and Reactions
“When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, ‘Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the
repentance that leads to life’” (Acts 11:18, emphasis added).
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I praise Your name for the grace that has come to me through the Lord, Jesus Christ. I rejoice in
the victory, which You have provided for me to live above sin and failure. I come before You in confession and to
plead Your mercy over my own sins. I confess my sins of lukewarmness, apathy, and worldliness. I specifically
confess my sin of ___________ (list all the known sins that have bound you – adultery, drug abuse, etc.). I acknowledge
before You the wickedness of the worldly environment by which I have allowed myself to be influenced. I accept
Your forgiveness and mercy for the sins I have committed against You. I plead the sufficiency of the blood of Christ
to meet the full penalty of what my sins deserve. I claim back the ground in my life, which I have given over to
Satan by believing the enemy’s deception. In the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ, I resist all of Satan’s activity to
hold me blind and cause me to function in darkness. Exercising my authority, which is given to me in my union
with the Lord, Jesus Christ, I pull down the strongholds, which the kingdom of darkness has formed against me. I
smash, break, and destroy all those plans formed against my mind, will, emotions, and body. I destroy in prayer
the spiritual blindness and deafness that Satan has kept upon me. I invite the Holy Spirit of God to bring the
fullness of His power to convict, to bring me to further repentance, and to lead me into faith in the Lord, Jesus
Christ. I claim the Truth that Satan has no power to blind me from Your Truth.
I thank You for bringing me under conviction, for leading me to pray this prayer of repentance, and for answering
my prayer of deliverance. In the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ, I joyfully lay this prayer before You in the
worthiness of Christ and the completed work on the Cross. Amen.

Key Truth: Seeking Forgiveness
Indwelt Christians are required by God to go and seek forgiveness from all those whom they have offended - by direct actions of hurt or reactions from being hurt by the offender. It is a vital part of the indwelling Life of Christ to show observers how Christ can forgive through believers.
Key Verse
Matthew 5:23-24: “Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.”
Goals in Discipleship
It is imperative we show all indwelt believers how Christ forgives in and through them. This lesson will walk believers through the 12 keys found in the Word, regarding the steps to seeking forgiveness from others.

Purpose Statement Humility breeds freedom. When someone chooses to seek the forgiveness of someone they have hurt, they provide an opportunity to demonstrate the power of Christ’s forgiveness. It is a great way to reveal the gospel. Seeking forgiveness is simply this; honestly reviewing how you hurt another by words, actions or lack of action. It is going to that person (preferably in person) and saying, “I was wrong” for whatever you did to create pain in their lives – then asking for their forgiveness. Forgiveness is “giving freedom before the offended has the opportunity to unveil bitterness.”
Seeking Forgiveness Is Not . . . It is not going to another to “put things behind you” or “get the monkey off your back”. It is not “smoothing over” what you did and it is certainly not bringing up their actions that “caused” you to hurt them. It is humbling yourself before them, confessing your sin and not considering their sin, or hurt, done unto you.
Process of Seeking Forgiveness
1. Make three lists. Column one, who you hurt. Column 2: how you hurt them. Column 3, how you acted toward them after you hurt them. See example:
Who I Hurt How I Hurt Them How I “Act” Toward Them
Mom Told her to “bite a rock”
† Avoided her † Gossiped about her † Skipped over birthdays † Refused to return calls † Etc.
2. Make sure you “extend forgiveness” before God if they hurt you. 3. Pray through the “Seeking Forgiveness” list. 4. Rehearse what and how you are going to say it. 5. Reject any defense, excuses, or blame. 6. Pray and get counsel for the “right timing.” 7. Call the person to set a time. The phone conversation should go something like this;
Mom, I am calling to find a time to get with you regarding seeking your forgiveness for some things I believe I have done to hurt you. What is the best time for you?
8. If they want to do it on the phone, delay. Plead to do this in person. If they refuse to meet with you in person or circumstances dictate that you can’t, ask for a phone time that is best for them.
9. When the meeting starts, thank them for allowing you to do this. 10. Go down column two and three and say “I was wrong for _________________, would
you forgive me for this?” Wait for the answer and repeat this process until you have completed the list.
11. At the end of the meeting, thank them again. Now ask them is there anything you can do to assist in restoring the relationship. If the request is reasonable, do what they ask of you.

Key Truth: Rest, Abide, and Walk
Indwelt Christians should have a passion and desire to come to Christ when they are weary and heavyhearted. Jesus wants to give His Bride rest, when we feel stressed or not. We need to have a Christ as Life view of life and not a self-focused view. We should not allow anything or anyone to steal our rest – that’s idolatry. We need to admit when we are not resting and ask Him to manifest His peace through us.
Key Verse
Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.”
Goals in Discipleship
It is imperative that we bring all those to whom we are ministering into a place of rest. Help each to live IN the present and in obedience. Confront the self-focused view and challenge them to shift to the view of “Christ is their life and He lives through them.”

ACTION DONE
1. Pray before you go any further with this action page.
2. Write out a paragraph stating your summary of the message of Rest, Abide, and Walk.
3. List the “people, places, and things” that get in the way of you choosing to rest in Christ.
4. Now list direct actions of rebellion (purposeful resistance) you use to avoid doing what God says. After doing
this, take the list to the Lord and appropriate His forgiveness and restitution.
5. Look up Isa. 43:18. List the memories you tend to call to mind and ponder on. Give the list to the Lord in
prayer. Tell Him you join Christ in His commitment to not make a habit of this in the future.
6. Write a summary statement why Christ’s worldview will affect every area of your life.
7. If you haven’t already, consider praying the “Self-Life Prayer” in the appendix section of this manual.

Key Truth: Love Life
Indwelt Christians should consider the other person more important than themselves. Dependency upon Christ within will bring a Life of obedience, which will sprout the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Each will overflow into the lives of others.
Key Verse
1 Timothy 1:5 - “But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
Goals in Discipleship
It is essential we see if those we are ministering to understand all the Truths of Christ as Life and why their Identity Matters. We need to assist in focusing their desires on obeying God and giving the Life of Christ away to others. This is all accomplished though each believer accepting their identity in Christ. L
