Simple Machines Scavenger Hunt

First Gear•The first simple gear machine
is a clock. Its used to tell time.
•Located on a wall of my house
2nd Gear
• The 2nd simple gear is a counter. It records the number of times around a track or any where that you may walk/jog.
• Located in a gym bag.
First Incline Plane
• The first inclined plane is a fan. Used for circulation of air in a room.
• Located on the ceiling of our house.
2nd Inclined Plane
• The 2nd inclined plane is scissors. Used for cutting things like paper.
• Located in supply cabinet
First lever
• The first lever is my sister’s see-saw toy made to represent a real see-saw that you would find in a park. Used for playing and balancing weight on each end.
• The real see-saw is located in a park.
2nd lever
• The 2nd lever is a oven door. Used for opening an closing and to keep the heat inside.
• Located in a kitchen
First Pulley
• This is a toy crane representing a real crane. Used for lifting heavy objects.
• Located in construction areas
2nd Pulley
• this is a picture of shades. Shades are used for letting in or keeping out light
• Find it inside a house or building on windows
First Screw
• This is a light bulb. Used for lighting up a room.
• Located everywhere (homes, stores, work places etc)
2nd Screw
• This is an screw. Used for connecting two things together.
• Located everywhere as well (in walls, things like doors, lights etc)
First Wedge
• This is a toy boat (sister’s) used to represent a real boat. The tip of the boat glides (cuts) through water making it easy to travel.
• Located on any ocean, river, lake or stream.
2nd Wedge
• This is an shovel. Used to dig into the ground/soil for helping use of planting or removing things on the ground.
• Located in stores (to buy) and in a garage or shed
First Wheel and Axle
• This is a car. The wheel and axle part is the wheels under the car. Wheels help the car move from place to place easily.
• Located everywhere (on streets, car sales and parking lots etc)
2nd Wheel and Axle
• This is a my sister’s toy carriage wheel. Used to move the carriage from place to place easily.
• Located (for the toy, in a toy box or store) or a real carriage at Walt Disney World.
First Complex Machine
• This is a can opener. Used for opening cans or bottles with the little sharp bottle opener piece.
• Normally found in stores or homes
2nd Complex Machine
• This is another form of a bottle opener. Typically used for opening bottles with the wooden cork as you may see in the picture
• Located in restaurants, stores and homes
