Moral Issues• America is a Land of immigrants
– The nation was built by immigrants– If you are not your ancestors were
• Discrimination against Latin Americans– 2nd most discriminated in America– Stereotypes: Drugs, Bad, Steal, Illegal Aliens– 12% are fired due to race– 27% experience homelessness
• Should we kick out illegal immigrants– No
• Most are contributing to society • Try to live normal life with their families• They know nothing else
– Yes• The U.S. can’t support such a large population• Possibilities of drug dealings
Current Law– Visas
• Employment-based visas, Family-based visas, Temporary-work visas, Student visas, Business visas, Travel visas, Exchange-visitor visas, Intercompany transferee visas, Spouse and fiancé(e) visas, Adopted-child visas
• Hard to get for most and most aretemporary
– Problems• Outdated• Promotes economic/social imbalance and inequality
Present & Future of Immigration Legislature
Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill– Dream Act rejected 10th time– Agreeable to both parties– Stronger border patrol, legalization
of undocumented aliens and national registry system for employers / employees
