Day 1: Today, we begin our pilgrimage by departing the our local
airport for Madrid. Overnight flight with dinner and breakfast on
board.
Day 2: After landing in Madrid, were off to vila to the first
Carmelite Foundation, founded by St. Teresa in 1562. After touring
her museum, well proceed to the Cave of St. John before returning
to Madrid for hotel check-in and dinner. Evening at leisure.
Overnight Madrid
Day 3: We travel to historic Burgos, where the last of St.
Teresas convents, the 17th Foundation, was completed in 1582. The
Convent is home to many relics of St. Teresa as well as the Church
of San Miguel. Next , we travel to Palencia visit the church of
Nuestra Senora de la Calle in Palencia, the 14th Foundation, in
1580. Well tour the city and the Palencia Cathedral, a popular stop
on the Way of St. James, the Church of San Martin de Fromista, and
well view the famous Castilla Canal while en route. After lunch,
well travel to Valladolid, where we will visit the 4th Foundation,
established in 1568, and Alba de Tormes, St. Teresas 8th
Foundation, established in 1571. It was here she died on October 4,
1582 and her barely corrupt, miraculously pierced heart rests in a
reliquary and her arm, also barely corrupt. We finish the day at La
Santa Convent, inaugurated in 1636, it was built over the house she
was born in. Dinner. Overnight vila
Day 4: We bid farewell to Avila and travel to the Real
Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the great monastery of
King Felipe II. In its lavish library are thousands of rare
manuscripts and ancient books. From there, we will proceed to
Malagon, where Dona Luisa de Cerda convinced St. Teresa to found
her 3rd Foundation in 1568. It is the only convent built new (the
others were adapted homes), therefore it was directly designed by
St. Teresa. Following lunch, we travel to Villanueva de la Jara,
home of the 13th Foundation, founded in 1580, around the church of
Santa Ana. There will be time to visit the tomb of Venerable Ana of
San Augustin before continuing on to Caravaca de le Cruz, the site
of St. Teresas 12th built in 1576. Dinner.Overnight Caravaca de la

Day 4: Today well visit the monastery of San Jose del Salvador,
the 10th Foundation of St. Teresas convents, founded in February
1575. It houses many important relics of St. Teresa, including
various liturgical ornaments of St. John of the Cross. After lunch,
well visit the Chapel of Jesus Nazareno and the Calvary of Beas,
where St. John of the Cross was Prior and composed The Spiritual
Canticle. We then travel to Church of the Immaculate Conception in
La Carolina. This was St. John of the Crosss last home before his
death. We then journey to Ubeda, where we visit the monastery he
died in, which has been turned into a museum devoted to his life.
Dinner. Overnight Granada
Day 6: Today, our journey starts with Malaga, located on the
Costa del Sol. It is one of the worlds oldest cities and the
birthplace of Pablo Picasso. Here we will visit the Discalced
Carmelite Convent, the Museum as well as the Church of Santos
Martires and the famous Cathedral de la Encarnacion. Following
dinner, well travel to Seville. Overnight Seville
Day 7: This morning, well visit the Convent of San Jose (Las
Teresas), St. Teresas 11th Foundation, established in May 1575. The
Convent houses a considerable number of relics, including the
original manuscript of St. Teresas book, Interior Castle, as well
as the only portrait of the Saint painted while she was still
alive. Following lunch we travel to the Portuguese city of Ftima,
where well join in the nightly candlelight procession in honor of
Our Lady of Ftima. Dinner. Overnight Ftima
Day 8: Today well visit the shrine of Our Lady of Ftima and the
Capelinha where our Blessed Mother appeared to the three seers. Our
Spiritual Director will celebrate Mass for us in the Basilica. Well
walk together the Way of the Cross which takes us through
Aljustrel, Valinhos, and the Loca Do Cabeco. Tonight well head to
the shrine for the candlelight Rosary Procession. Dinner. Overnight
Ftima
Day 9: Depart Lisbon Airport to our flight back the United
States.
