Welcome Message from Principal…
It gives me immense pleasure to welcome the first year students who are joining their U.G.
studies in various branches of engineering at Shantilal Shah Engineering College, Bhavnagar.
At the outset, I would like to congratulate the students for their hard work and meritorious
performance in std. 12th
to be able to secure admissions in engineering. You have chosen a challenging path that would require a lot of hard work and sustained
efforts for achieving highest career goals you have set up for yourself, of becoming a
successful professional. In this academic journey that takes you towards your goals, you will
need to develop yourself intellectually, morally, and be a problem solver. Your extra efforts
can make you accomplish more than you think you can. The first year of college is most
important, it will shape your future to a great extent, and hence it is very important that you
are dedicated to the academic requirements to build your future.
Your college, which is more than 30 years old institution, has rich legacy of shaping and
nurturing of students for their all-round development. It has a rich and hugely successful
alumni-base, who are contributing to the development of the society, nationally and
internationally. The departments are well organized having well developed academic
facilities including laboratories, workshop and library. Highly qualified, well experienced
faculty members are amongst the best in the state, selected through the toughest faculty
selection process in the state. The college follows syllabi of Gujarat Technological University
at its best to impart the engineering knowledge and skills to the students.
Curricular and co-curricular activities are also part of campus life. The college is having a
bright track record of technical, sports and cultural events’ organization, wherein students
have established milestones of superb performance up to national level.
In all, your college provides an excellent academic environment, opportunities to excel in
technical, cultural, sports and societal activities, which shall develop you as an intellectual
engineering professional and sensible and responsible citizen; I am sure collectively we will

INSTITUTE PROFILE BACKGROUND
Shantilal Shah Engineering College is the third largest Government Engineering College under the
Commissioner of Technical Education, Gujarat State. It was started in June 1983 as a part of
expansion of technical education program, with an intake of 30 seats each in Civil and Mechanical
Engineering courses. With the generous donation by late Shri Shantilal M. Shah, the College was
renamed as Shantilal Shah Engineering College, 1984-85 onwards. Subsequently, the disciplines of
Instrumentation and Control, Electronics and Communication, Production, Information Technology
and Electrical Engineering were added. Simultaneously, Post Diploma Degree Courses in Civil and
Mechanical Engineering provide opportunity to those who areserving after completion of their
Diploma studies. PG programs are offered in Civil Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical
Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering since 2010-11. INFRASTRUCTURE
The academic facilities of the College are organized in eight buildings which includefour Academic
Buildings, one Administration Building, one Learning Resources Utilization Center (LRUC) building,
Library building, and Workshop. There are four hostel blocks. A green campus, having more than five
hundred trees,is spread in 80 acres of land, providing vast spaced for sports, recreation and cultural
activities. Administrative Building (Block A) houses The Principal’s Office, Students Section
including GTU Coordinator’s Office, Students Stores, Training and Placement Cell, Accounts office
and Administrative Branch. The Academic Departments are located as under:

100 MBPS internet lease line facility is available on the Campus to enhance e-learning process. High-
tech computerized learning system and full campus video surveillance are also part of facilities
available on the Campus. TRANSPORTATION
The College is situated at a distance of about 12kms from Bhavnagar City, 2 kms from Sidsar village
and 3.5 kms from Budhel Village. Good frequency of Auto Rickshaws ply from Sanskar
Mandal,Talaja Octroi Naka, Sidsar and other places from the city. Regular ST Bus services are
available for Sidsar and Budhel village from Bhavnagar.

STUDENTS AND ACADEMICS
The student intake is 720 for UG and 72 for PG programs. The Institute has total strength of about
3650 full time and 75 Part time students. Students come from all over Gujarat and some from other
States. The students are required to be punctual and regular in their studies.During theregular course
of studies and especially in the final year projects, students make extensive use of all resource
available at the institute, visit industries for survey, data acquisition etc. whenever required. It gives
an opportunity to develop innovative and problem solving skills. To provide practical exposure,
frequent visits to industries, power stations, construction sites, dams and field locations are organized,
relevant to respective curriculum.
For the meritorious students in all the seven branches, Investment & Precision Castings Limited, a famous industrial house of Bhavnagar, has sponsored Gold Medals, which are given away every year. FACULTY
Every department has the best faculty members in the State. All faculty members possess Master
Degree in respective branch of engineering/science, many of them have earned Ph.D. from reputed
institutes like IIT, IISc, PDPU, Saurashtra University and like. The faculty members are having rich
experience in the subjects which helps students for their Projects. Faculties are actively involved in
research and having strong liaison with industries. They are trained in teaching methodology as well
as advance topics in their area of interest. Although the primary commitment of the faculty members
is to impart education, many of the make contribution toward development of syllabi, and various
other committees of GTU and other organizations. LIBRARY
College is having one of the richest libraries in technical education set up. It is having more than
25000 books and 10,000 titles and a functional ‘e-library’. Technical and other magazines are
available to improve the awareness and enrich the knowledge. Students should contact library for
further details for membership facilities. The lectures on various subject content delivered by experts
are available as NPTEL and BISAG lecture series online in library, a soft copy may be provided on
demand. HOSTEL
College is having a capacity of four hundred students in four blocks of Boys Hostel. Healthy and
hygienic food is being served in hostel mess at affordable rate, which is managed by students
committee. Facilities for outdoor and indoor games are available for the hostel residents. It is
compulsory for residents to observe hostel rules. Primary medical care is also available in the hostel. STUDENT CONSUMER STORE
Student Consumer Store functions to the day to day requirements of stationary, tools and instruments,
drawing material etc. at no profit, no loss basis. Facility of printing, photocopying and downloading
from internet is also available.

CANTEEN
Canteen facility is available in Main building, which is a destination to relax from your academics and
keeps you energized for the day long work. It serves Tea, Coffee, Cold drinks, fresh snacks and
packaged refreshments throughout the day. It is expected from all to see that the place remains clean. CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Students are provided ample opportunities to develop their talents through various co-curricular
activities. One can participate in sports and cultural activities like debating, quiz, essay writing, dance,
drama, singing, fine arts etc. Students actively participate in technical, sports and cultural activities
organized by GTU and other institutions and have performed award winning acts. Celebration of
National Days, organization of Open House, Annual Day, Tech-fest and Sports week are regular
events at the Campus. NSS ACTIVITIES
The overall aim of National Service Scheme (NSS) is to orient the young students to community
service while they are at campus. The volunteers of the NSS Unit are exposed to social and
community service through campus development work, celebration of various National days, social
awareness program, watershed management, tree plantation, blood donation and many such activities.
Every year about 150 volunteers are registered under NSS. PLACEMENT
The Training and Placement Cell takes care of the future of the students after completion of their
graduation. It works to create awareness amongst students for various opportunities such as job
placement, self-employment (entrepreneurship) and further studies. Diverse activities like expert
lectures, finishing schools, interview preparation, and guidance for preparation for competitive
examinations are organized with the help of experts across the state and active participation of the
students. The Cell arranges for placement of students, field/ industrial training, visits and students’
services in Local events of CII. All efforts are made to arrange Campus Interviews of various leading
industries for finding suitable placements for the students. Companies like Reliance, e-infochips,
Ferromatik Milacron, Indian Army, I&PCL are a few to regularly visit the campus for recruitment
drive. ANTI-RAGGING COMMITTEE
Ragging of students is totally banned and anyone found guilty of ragging or abetting ragging is liable
to be punished as per directives of Honorable Supreme Court of India. For prevention and prohibition
of ragging a committee of all levels of staff members is constituted. Students can approach the
members of committee in case of any assistance in the matter. DISCIPLINE
Discipline is mandatory. Every student admitted to the College shall have to give an undertaking at
the time of joining that he/she shall abide by the College and Hostel rules, for hostel residents, and
agree to the regulation from time to time. He/she will do nothing either inside or outside the College
that will interfere with its orderly governance and discipline.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF STUDENTS
Students of the Institute have shown their talent in the field of Academics, Technical knowledge, sports
and cultural activities. Our students have secured position in Top 10 in GTU from last three years
consecutively. Our students have won prizes at State and National level Hackathone. Boys and Girls
team of Kho-Kho have won Championship of GTU in 2015. Our Youth Festival Team has won
Runners up title in Ahmedabad Zone for consecutive last three years and this is the only Government
College to secure position in top 3 in GTU. Our students have represented GTU at West Zone and
National levels and have secured prizes for the same.
For any student section related activities, newly admitted students are required to visit
Students section (Room no. 110) in Admin building during 3 to 4 p.m.
Important Instructions for the New Batch
1. Students newly admitted in this Institute, are expected to visit www.gtu.ac.in and
www.ssgec.ac.in regularly for any circular. 2. Students must check General Notice Board regularly.
3. Students must fill Enrollment Forms and College Fee within time limit. 4. Institute will attest College I-card, ST Pass, Bonafide and Bank Account related
documents only after College receives final merit list from ACPC. Above mentioned procedure of attestation will be done by Student Section in Room No.104, Admin Block during 3-4 pm.
5. College has facility of Boys’ Hostel only. Admission procedure for Boys’ Hostel will begin only after College receives final merit list from ACPC.
6. Each student should get his/her Bank Account and must get ATM/Debit Card as students will have to pay College and GTU fee online.
Instructions to get Bonafide Certificate
Documents needed for the First Semester students to get Bonafide Certificate are as below. This instruction is applicable till students have not received their Enrollment numbers.

Students of other Semesters will have to get Performa of Bonafide from the College website. Same process applies to First Year students after they receive Enrollment numbers. Attach documents as mentioned in Student Instruction on College Website.

1. Write an application

Student Section will issue above mentioned any document in Room No.104, Admin Block during 3-4 pm.
Marksheet will be issued from Student Section in Room No.104, Admin Block during 4-5 pm.
If students have any query related to Student Section activities, timing for any inquiry is 3pm onwards.
College I-card will be issued to new First Year students only after submission of Enrollment Forms.
College I-card is compulsory to enter the College and for any work related to Student Section.

Instruction for Online payment of fees : Steps for online fees payment
1. Go to the https://www.onlinesbi.com/prelogin/icollecthome.htm
Or
Search for and go to SBI Collect website.
2. State Bank Collect Disclaimer will be opened. Read the instructions. Check the
given checkbox and click on Proceed.
3. On next screen select State of Corporation/Institution as Gujarat and Type of
Corporation/Institution as Educational Institute from dropdown list. Then click on
Go button.

4. On next screen search for Shantilal Shah Engineering College, Sidsar in
Educational Institute dropdown list and click on Submit button.
5. Next screen shows the college logo with its name and address. Select the appropriate
payment category. Enter your enrolment number.

6. Next screen shows your details (Enrolment number, Name, etc.) and exam fees
details. Verify the fees amount.If there is any discrepancy please contact to
concerned faculty. Enter remarks if any and then click on Confirm button.
7. Next screen asks for confirmation. Check the details and click on Confirm button.

8. Next screen will show you different payment mode options (Net banking, Card
Payments, and Other Payment modes) with extra charges if any. Select payment mode
of your choice and follow the instruction to pay the fees.
9. Once the payment done, it will generate SBI Collect receipt. Take the print of the
receipt. Submit signed exam form and receipt to concerned faculty of your
department.
