■ Mark 1" in from each end of the headrail.

➤ If more than two installation brackets came with your order, space additional bracket(s) evenly between the two end brackets and mark their location. Mount into wood whenever possible.

■ Center the brackets on your marks, then mark each of the screw holes.

➤ A minimum 2" flat vertical surface is required to mount the brackets.

➤ The top of the installation brackets should be at the desired shade height.

Important: The brackets should be level and aligned.

CautIon: The rear of the brackets must be flush against a flat mounting surface. Do not mount brackets on curved molding.

Attach the Universal Cord Tensioner (UCT)

Before you proceed, you must first slide the cord tensioner to the bottom of the cord loop.

■ Insert a small screwdriver, punch, or awl through the screw hole at the bottom of the cord tensioner.

■ Move the screw hole down to the bottom to release the safety mechanism.

■ Slide the cord tensioner down to the bottom of the cord loop.

■ Attach the cord tensioner according to the instructions provided with the Universal Cord Tensioner Installation Kit.

WarnIng: It is imperative that the cord tensioner be properly secured to the wall or window frame to reduce children’s access to the cord loop. Young children can strangle in cord loops. They can also wrap cords around their necks and strangle.

CautIon: Shades will not operate properly unless the cord tensioner is secured. A Universal Cord Tensioner Installation Kit has been included with your shade. Follow the instructions in the kit to correctly secure the cord tensioner.

Attach the Optional Components

If you ordered Hold-Down Brackets...

Hold-down brackets provide stability and prevent swaying by securing the bottom rail — for example, in French door applications. Hold-down brackets can only be used with outside mount shades.

■ Lower the shade and place the pins from the hold-down brackets into the bottom rail end caps.

■ On the mounting surface, mark the screw holes.

■ Drill the screw holes using a 3/32" drill bit.

■ Attach the hold-down brackets to the mounting surface using the screws provided.

Solution Check that the installation brackets are level and aligned. Shim the brackets, if necessary.

Problem The shade will not raise.

Solution If the hold-down brackets have been used, make sure they have been released.

Problem The universal cord tensioner has climbed to the top of the shade.

Solution Pull down on the spring to relieve tension and pull the universal cord tensioner to the bottom of the cord loop. Properly mount the cord tensioner. See the Universal Cord Tensioner Installation Instructions that came with your Cord Tensioner Kit.

Problem The universal cordtensioner grabs onto the cord upon operation.

Solution Check that the universal cord tensioner is mounted properly. Reinstall, if necessary. See the Universal Cord Tensioner Installation Instructions that came with your Cord Tensioner Kit.

Problem The shade fabric winds unevenly on the roll.

Solution ■ Check that the shade is level.

■ Completely lower the roller shade, then raise it slowly.

➤ If the fabric winds unevenly and begins to telescope to one side, check to ensure that the shade is level.

➤ If the shade is not level, remove it from the installation brackets and shim or re-install the brackets, as necessary.

Important: If the shade was unrolled before being installed, it may not raise and lower to the right points. To correct this:

■ Remove the shade from the mounting brackets.

■ Roll the shade up until the bottom rod is even with the bottom of the clutch.

■ Re-install the shade.

Problem The shade is slightly long or short.

Solution ■ Raise the shade completely (until the bead stop touches the back of the clutch).

➤ For a shorter drop, move the bead stop two to four beads down.

➤ For a longer drop, move the bead stop two to four beads up.

Important: Maximum adjustment is 13/4", or eight to nine beads.

Removing the Valance

■ While holding the valance board, remove each wing nut from all the studs.

Cleaning Procedures

The following options are available if your shade needs cleaning.

Dusting

■ Regular light dusting with a feather duster is all the cleaning that is needed in most circumstances. You may also use a hair dryer on a cool setting or compressed air set to a low pressure.

Vacuuming

■ Use a low suction, hand-held vacuum for more thorough dust removal.

Spot-Cleaning

■ Only the following Provenance® fabrics can be spot-cleaned:

■ Prepare a solution of warm water and a mild detergent.

■ Dampen a clean cloth in the solution and wring it out.

■ Dab the spot with the dampened cloth until the spot is gone. Do not rub the fabric.

■ Allow the shade to dry in the completely lowered position.

■ Young children can STRANGLE in cord loops. They can also wrap cords around their necks and STRANGLE.

■ Always keep cords out of the reach of children.

■ Move cribs, playpens and other furniture away from cords. Children can climb furniture to get to cords.

Cord Loop Shades

■ Attach the cord tensioner on the cord loop to the wall or window casement. This can prevent children from pulling cord loops around their necks. See “Attach the Universal Cord Tensioner (UCT)” on page 7.

■ Hunter Douglas provides a cord tensioner installation kit with instructions for attaching the cord tensioner. For the shade to operate properly, the cord tensioner must be correctly mounted and secured.

■ Fasteners provided in this kit may not be appropriate for all mounting surfaces. Use appropriate anchors for mounting surface conditions.

■ Only Hunter Douglas supplied cord tensioners and hardware should be used. Replacement parts may be obtained by contacting the Hunter Douglas Customer Information Center at 1-888-501-8364.
