AMFIC status
• Current status:• Improved data sets available for 2003-2005:
• CO WFMDv0.6 (Buchwitz et al., ACP, 2007)
• Methane WFMDv1.0 (Schneising et al., ACPD (in press), 2008)
• First validation using ground-based FTS (7 European stations, 2003-2004) (Dils et al., ACVE-3, 2006)
• Focus ongoing & future activities: Assessment of usefulness for AMFIC project
Institut für Umweltphysik (iup)
AMFIC related activities since kick-off
• Detailed studies focussing on China (see following slides; ongoing activity)
• Extraction & delivery of CO at AMFIC validation sites
• DRAGON rice monitoring sub-project (Dr Thuy Le Toan) informed about availability of AMFIC methane
• Meeting with Kostas Kourtidis to discuss data sets incl. web display aspects
• Meeting with Dr Li, State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA), Beijing, beginning of April in China
• SEPA is responsible for entire China
• Meeting focus: Exchange of general information on satellite data & retrieval
• SEPA is interested in establishing a Remote Sensing group (own retrievals) and using satellite data for AQ monitoring and improving emission data bases (NO2, CO, ...)
• Methane paper submitted describing the 2003-2005 AMFIC methane data set: Schneising et al., ACPD (in press), 2008
