The Concept
• Is a centralized database of pre-screened “Job Ready” Internationally Educated Professionals (IEP) and Skilled Trades across Ontario.
• Not open to the public, all candidates are referred once they have completed a job preparation program through a partnering agency.
• Information and attached documents listed on a candidate’s profile are reviewed by the counsellor before published to the website.
• Employers register with SI and are able to post jobs on the website and search for the specific skills that they require.
• Presently the service is free for employers with a fee based business model to be implemented in 2009.

Employer Perception
• The major concern for all employers in hiring is RISK.
• Employer perception is that people exaggerate their skills, education and work history.
• Employers perceive that ITI candidates are more apt to exaggerate information, because it can be difficult to check.
• Employers perceive that there are language issues which is a “catch all” for general communication skills and organizational integration.
• Employers do not understand the foreign credentials or the education system and its equivalency to our system.
5
Data Integrity
• Candidate Profile Data is reviewed and checked by the counsellor.
• Profile is reviewed for content.• Original documents attached to
profile.• 3rd Party Vendors perform external
checks (pending process) and provide a letter of certification.
• Skills International reviews profile.
