Iowa’s Creative Corridor Biotech Spotlight Series (Return to Index)
In Iowa’s Creative Corridor we are world class in biotechnology whether that’s in pharma, chemical, nutraceutical or fermentation, we do biotech better. Join us for a day-long tour on our biotech assets in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, and learn about the companies that research, develop, create products, develop workforce, and think big in Iowa’s Creative’s Corridor. A welcome reception will be held October 4 from 5-7 at the Parlor Room (16th floor) of the DoubleTree by Hilton overlooking downtown Cedar Rapids. A block of rooms is reserved, with government and event rates. The tour starts after breakfast October 5, and will consist of tours and presentations at more than 10 Cedar Rapids and Iowa City biotech companies and facilities, with special guest speakers from the Iowa State University and the University of Iowa, and Debi Durham, Director, Iowa Economic Development Authority.

Versova Laboratory was founded in 2015 to meet the needs of one of the world’s largest egg producers to ensure the health of laying hens and the wholesomeness of egg products. Soon thereafter, Versova lab has expanded to offer a variety of diagnostic testing to the poultry industry as an NPIP authorized lab. Versova lab continues to develop innovative solutions to help the poultry industry make quick informed decisions on flock health and production. The lab offers a variety of poultry related bacteriological, serological and molecular testing. Versova lab also conducts applied research on poultry diseases in collaboration with poultry industry and provides services for evaluating disease challenges and vaccinal immunity. Our team members at Versova are specialized in avian health and diagnostic testing. Our team includes Dr. George Girgis who is a poultry veterinarian, Brianna Klein whose specialty is molecular biology, and Brittney Dunfee and Marissa Gregory who specialize in bacteriology.
