NEW DELHI, Dec 5: An advocate claiming his fee

based on the percentage of out-come of a subject matter in acase, is professsional miscon-duct and against public policy,the Supreme Court said today.

The top court hoped theGovernment will take cognisanceof the issue of introducing requi-site legislative changes for aneffective regulatory mechanism to

check violation of professionalethics in the legal profession.

While relying on an earlierverdict of apex court, it saidcommercialisation to the extentof exploiting the litigant andmisbehavior to the extent of

browbeating the Court by somemembers of the legal fraternity,breached the professional duties

towards the court and the liti-gant and needs to be checked.

A bench of Justices A K Goeland U U Lalit termed a complaintfiled by an advocate against hisclient for dishonouring of acheque as "abuse of the process oflaw" and quashed it.(PTI)
