JSC “Russian Railways” implements six Infrastructure Projects which are of considerable
importance with regard to the preparation for the XXII Winter Olympic Games 2014.
The Projects are being implemented under the Program for construction of Olympic facilities and
development of Sochi as a mountain climatic resort affirmed by the Decree of the Government of
the Russian Federation.

«Alpika-Servis» Project
The most complicated infrastructure facility for the Olympic
Games 2014 is the combined (railway and motorway) road
from Adler to the «Alpika-Servis» mountain climatic resort.
This road will provide transportation to the spectators and
Olympians to the mountain stadiums of Krasnaya Polyana
and to the ice stadiums of Olympic park in Imeretinskaya
Lowlands.
Being approximately 50 km in length the road’s altitude
above sea level differs from 50 m at the beginning point to
560 m at the ending point.

The Project comprises the construction of 48 km of the
electrified single-track railway with double-track sections,
two new stations and passenger terminals Esto-Sadok
and Alpika-Servis.
Railway track Adler-“Alpika-Servis” Mountain Resort will
provide railway transportation to the Olympic competitions
at the capacity rate of 8 500 passengers per hour.
The new railway line includes 6 railway tunnels with the
total length of 10408.5 m and 12 railway bridges.

Road traffic capacity is 11 500 passengers per hour to the
mountain stadiums of Krasnaya Polyana and to the ice
stadiums of Olympic park in Imeretinskaya Lowlands.
The total length of the new road to be constructed will be
approximately 46.5 km, including:
-6 major road junctions;
-10 road bridges and flyovers;
-3 road tunnels with the total length of 7697.8 m.

will allow to effect the cargo
supplies transportation by rail
during the period from 2009 to
2013 as scheduled:
44.1 million tons for the Olympic
construction needs;
20.5 million tons for the City of
Sochi needs.
Improving of the railway track from Tuapse
to Adler with construction of double-track
sections at the station-to-station blocks is
being implemented for gradual increasing of
traffic capacity of the track from 54 in 2008
to 70 train pairs per day in 2011.

Railway freight yards in Imeretinskaya Lowlands are
constructed.
The Freight Yard #1 for non-metallic materials with the
capacity of 11 million tons per year or 448 carriages per
day was put into operation in September 2009.
General cargo: hard stone, sand, inert materials.
The Freight Yard #2 for receiving of containers and
constructions with the capacity of 3.7 million tons per
year or 170 carriages per day was put into operation in
December 2009.
General cargo: cement, heavy cargo, containers,
packaged cargo.
