Wrong beliefs about God
Wrong beliefs about self
Wrong focus of attention
Wrong perception of time
Wrong choices
Wrong Beliefs About Self
Every human being has an area of enduring vulnerability.
PERSON PERFORMANCE
Wrong Beliefs About Self
Person I’m not important. I’ll be rejected. I’m not likeable. I’m not loveable. No one wants to spend
time with me.
Performance I’m a failure. I can’t do anything right. I’ll mess it up. Others judge me. I’m inadequate.
Wrong Focus of Attention Focusing on failure experiences, while ignoring successes.
Focusing on rejection experiences, while ignoring love/attention.
Focusing on negative events, while ignoring positives.
Focusing on what you can do, rather than on what God can do.
Focusing on work, while ignoring family.
Focusing on work, while ignoring self-care.
Wrong Perception of Time
“This won’t take me any time.
“I should be able to do this faster.”
“I should have made more progress by now.”
“I’ll just work on this about thirty minutes.”
Wrong Choices Choosing withdrawal and isolation.
Choosing escape.
Choosing blame.
Choosing more work.
Choosing to depend on self, rather than depending on God.
Choosing to work, rather than pray.
Maintaining Balance
God is not your co-pilot.

Practice relaxation as if fits you.
Engage in a non-productive pleasurable activity.
Set boundaries on work and technology.
Practice organization techniques.
Maintaining Balance Get enough sleep.
Ask for help.
Be assertive (non-assertive ----------assertive----------aggressive)
Know when it’s you and when it’s them.
Monitor yourself for symptoms of stress/imbalance.
Know when to quit and move on.
Scripture And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a
desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. Mark 6:31
And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. Mark 1:35
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
