Example of application from Internet (Instructive Approach)
AAAmath server (http://www.aaamath.com/)• focuses on exercises in basic Math's
operations for children. An application training adding of numbers from 1 to 100 with simple statistics of results and showing the correct result in case of an error.
FreeENGLISH (http://www.freeenglish.net/)
offers exercises for teaching English to children. – The server offers various exercises that help to improve
the skills in some typically difficult areas by interactive manner.
– there is a multiple-choice test and there are many animated exercises with sound
– Other exercises are based on different principles• guessing of a word by choosing letters (Hangman),• spelling of the heard word, • a conversation with a choice of potentially suitable
answers,.
Example of application from Internet (Constructive Approach)• The simulation is one of the most constrictive forms
of application. • Generally it is a model of a certain situation that
allows the user to participate actively on the actions and experiment.
• In many cases even applications that are originally designed as games may serve some educational purposes.
• For instance, there are constructive games developing logical thinking at the server of the LEGO company (http://www.lego.com/build/).
Digital library
• Digital library is a library in which collections are stored in digital formats (as opposed to print, microform, or other media) and accessible by computers.
• Shift of information from traditional library to digital library is to provide better delivery of information than was not possible in the past (Arms, 2000).
Digital library - advantage
• Bring the libraries closer to the users- more accessible, and increases its usage.
• Computer technology is used for searching and browsing - better than manual methods for finding information.
• Information can be shared on a network makes it available to everyone.
• Information is always available- 24/7
