Janette Arteaga, a junior atSouth Miami Senior High, haswon the title of Miss CalleOcho 1983. Also to her creditis the title of Miss photogenic.

There were 27 contestantsand 3 different contests held.of the three, Janette took twotitles, Miss Photogenic andMiss Calle Ocho.

"I didn't think I was goingto win. I thought it would bemore like a learning ex_perience. Of course, I wanted,like everyone else, to win but ididn't think I would," saidMiss Calle Ocho.
