ON TO THE EIGHTH ONE: Following last night’s 25th comeback
win of the season, tonight the Dodgers will play the second game of
their three-game set with the Miami Marlins as well as the second
contest of a five-game road trip (1-0). Los Angeles has won seven
consecutive games and 27 of 31 since June 7, giving the Dodgers the
best record in the Major Leagues. The Boys in Blue are a season-
high 33 games over .500 and have a season-high 8.5 game lead in the
NL West. Following tomorrow’s contest, the club will enjoy an off
day in Chicago on Monday, before playing two Interleague games
against the Chicago White Sox Tuesday and Wednesday night.
The Dodger victory last night clinched the season series
with the Marlins after L.A. took three of four games when
the two teams met from May 18-21 at Dodger Stadium.
2016. Last season, the Dodgers were 1-6 vs. the Fish.
The Dodgers’ +165 run differential is the best in the
National League by a wide margin, but trials the Houston
Astros by two runs for tops in the Major Leagues. Los
Angeles last Sunday clinched the best pre All-Star Game
run differential in National League history:
NL, Best Run Differential Pre All-Star – Since 1933
2017 Los Angeles Dodgers +163
1944 St. Louis Cardinals +159
The Dodgers don’t have very much company when it comes
to their winning ways thus far this year:

KID CODY: Dodger rookie sensation Cody Bellinger, who
celebrated his 22nd birthday on Thursday, leads the Major Leagues
with 25 home runs since his April 25 call-up, one more than Judge’s
24 blasts over that time. No other player in either league has more
than 20 homers over that stretch. Since Bellinger’s promotion, Los
Angeles is 53-18 (.746). According to STATS, LLC, when Bellinger
and MVP candidate Justin Turner are in the lineup together, L.A.
is tough to beat:
Dodgers, 2017 – With Bellinger & Turner Both Starting
W-L 34-9 (.791)
Runs/Gm 5.98 (257/43)
HR/Game 1.65 (71/43)
HAPPY HOMERING: The Dodgers swatted three home runs last
night while keeping the Marlins in the park. The club has been
winning the home run battle all season long:

TURNER TIME: Justin Turner went 1-for-4 last night and leads
the Majors in batting average (.375) and on-base percentage (.469)
(min. 200 AB) while also clubbing nine home runs and swatting 17
doubles. In 18 career games at Marlins Park, Turner is hitting .372
(16-for-43) and eight of those 16 hits have gone for extra bases (five
doubles, one triple and two home runs). According to STATS, LLC,
his .674 career slugging percentage at Marlins Park is tied with
James Loney and Gregory Polanco for the highest of all-time.
WOOD-WORKING: Dodger left-hander Alex Wood will take the
mound for his 14th start of the season tonight, as he puts his
unblemished 10-0 record on the line against the Marlins. Wood last
pitched on July 5 vs. Arizona, but did throw 1.0 frame in the 88th All-
Star Game Tuesday night, giving up a run on a bloop single in the
fifth inning. His 10 victories are tied for fourth in the NL and he is
the first Dodger pitcher to start a season 10-0 since reliever Ed
Roebuck in 1962. The last Dodger starter to go 10-0 was Don
Newcombe in 1955. “Newk” lost his next start and no Dodger in the
club’s modern history has ever begin the season with an 11-0 record.
Wood hasn’t lost since May 30, 2016, a span of 13 consecutive starts.
In 12 career games (nine starts) against the Marlins, Wood
has gone 5-3 with a 3.00 ERA (20 ER/60.0 IP) while
limiting Miami to a .243 average. On May 19, Wood tossed
7.1 scoreless innings against the Marlins at Dodger
Stadium, helping lead the squad to a 7-2 victory in the
teams’ second meeting this season.
PUIG YOUR FRIEND, LATE: The Dodgers won for the sixth
time this season when entering the ninth inning trailing, which is the
most in baseball. Last night’s heroics came courtesy of Yasiel Puig,
who blasted two homers on the evening, including a three-run shot
in the ninth inning. Puig is now one home run shy of his career high
of 19, established in his rookie season of 2013. Puig has clocked
three home runs against the Marlins this season, equaling the most
he has hit against any other team (also three vs. SD). After hitting
.298 with six home runs in June, the native of Cuba is batting .286
(8-for-28) with three home runs and a .607 slugging percentage in
July. With two outs and runners in scoring position, Puig last night
improved his mark to .308 (8-for-26) with three home runs and 13
RBI on the season.
BEST IN SHOW: The Dodgers lead the Majors with a 3.16 team
ERA, a 1.12 WHIP, a .223 opponents’ batting average and nine
shutouts (T-1st), while leading the NL in strikeouts (877).
After firing 4.1 scoreless innings last night, the Los Angeles
bullpen leads the NL with a 2.95 ERA (98 ER/299.0 IP), a
1.10 WHIP (1st MLB) and 346 strikeouts. Dodger All-Star
closer Kenley Jansen, who has recorded 22 saves this
season (T-2nd, NL), currently owns the longest active save
streak this year (22). Jansen has thrown scoreless relief in
19 of his last 20 appearances, going 2-0 with 14 saves and
posting a 0.42 ERA (1 ER/21.2 IP) with 26 strikeouts
during that span.
FANTASY LAND: It was announced yesterday, that The Los
Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox will team up for the
third annual Dodgers-White Sox Baseball Fantasy Camp at
Camelback Ranch - Glendale, the teams’ spring training facility in
Glendale, Arizona. This authentic baseball experience for adults ages
21 years and older will be held January 14-20, 2018. Dodger legends
Eric Karros, Steve Sax, Steve Yeager, Kevin Gross, Ken
Landreaux, Jerry Hairston, Jr. and others will be the Dodgers’
instructors. White Sox instructors will be led by Ron Kittle, Mark
Salas and Art Kusyner as well as camp commissioner and host Tom
Paciorek, also a former Dodger player. For more information or to
