When coaches put their membersinto tournaments, they place a lot offaith in the members and supportersthat they will behave according tofair play and good sportsmanshipas, in not doing so, they drag theclub and the art through the mud.At the last L.T.S.I. Opens, asituation unfolded where a parentwas abusive to the Instructorbecause their child was put in adivision where the other competitorwas taller. It has to be mentioned

that both competitors were, in fact, the same weight, butone was a bit taller than the other. Due to low numbers inthe category, the two divisions had to be merged into one.Parents and supporters of our events should try to

We kick together - We stick togetherSupporting your own is the onlyway forward! You must understand that we

ask you not to attend other events outside of theL.T.S.I. if you are not supporting us first. It seemsthat some think this is an acceptable practice, which it is not! Think of it this way - your club andyour group gives you everything, where as thoseoutside of the L.T.S.I. family give you nothing butpromises. I often say to my members “Would yousuddenly start doing more with your neighboursthan your family?” - the answer is often NO, asfamily comes first. Well, the point is we are allfamily, so nothing is more important than L.T.S.I.functions.

I have been a member of the I.T.F.since 1999 and, in this time, we havebeen burnt more times than you canimagine. Seniors promising everything, but delivering nothing. There havebeen one or two that were great, butmost just want to line their pocketsand get you in their group.

Our affiliation is to the I.T.F. and ourinsurance is with the Association ForTae Kwon Do now, which gives us freedom andmany other benefits, but our commitment is for theL.T.S.I. only now (which we hope is the sameopinion you have too).

We ask that you all respect the fact that we arehere for you and that you support us beforesupporting others events.—-------------------------------------------------------------

Tae Kwon Do is not like any other business whereeach one communicates to better one other -instead, each coach and organisation nowadaysseems to be negative.Tae Kwon Do is to build bridges - this is whyL.T.S.I. invites independents (and has since ourinception) into our competitions. We do not care ifa group is with another group, only that they areopen minded and prepared to treat all affiliationsas equal. There is nothing so pleasing than seeing allaffiliations working together as one, hence why wehave many independent friends.

SPORTSMAN SHIP.understand that, sometimes, divisions WILL bemerged. These championships are the membersdays to test their skills and are not about makingmoney, but giving you the chance to trial yourskills in a safe tournament where fair play isdemonstrated.

Supporters should understand there are four judgeson each ring to give their opinion accordingly andalso a ring supervisor. All judges offer their time free to assist us on theday, so supporters should use decorum whensupporting and try to stay calm, even if you thinksomething is not right.

Mr. Smith is the mat supervisor, so any issuesshould be dealt with by the tournament host andthe mat supervisor - their say is final.

We held our own in 2011!In the last 12 months, we have heard that many clubs have closeddown - admittedly, we are glad some have gone as they were localclubs that were competition to us. In this time, we have managed tokeep our clubs working fine and even seen an increase inmembership (small, but it has been an increase). The only reason wehave survived is that we do not work for money, but the love of theart that we teach. L.T.S.I. offers the best syllabus without doubt!Looking at the L.T.S.I., it has been a rocky path - some have goneand some have returned but, all in all, we have held our own. Wethank you as, without you, it would not have been possible. 2012looks promising as we unveil a number of new clubs - watch thisspace.

New clubs opening in L.T.S.I.Mr. Snow lost his mum in December and itwas this situation that made him realise hisclubs are more important to him than all thepetty arguments he has had to deal with overthe last five years. We can confirm he isopening NEW clubs in St. Albans and it isalso rumoured other locations are due to belaunched in 2012. Good luck to him.
