OPENDISCUSSIONSREGARDINGDAMAGEPREVENTIONAWARENESS&COOPERATIONThecommitteediscussedthefollowingissues;

• Verizondamages,itwassuggestedthatcontractorscontacttheirlocalVerizonrepresentationimmediatelytoresolveconcernsoveraVerizondamagepriortobeingbilled.

• LateTicketCheckresponsestoTicketCheckruleswerediscussed.• ForAnneArundelCounty,itwasrequestedthatexcavatorsincludeanynecessaryroadclosingsinthe

ExtentofWorkSield.

NEWBUSINESSSusanStroudprovidedinformationonCommonGroundAlliance(CGA)andtheirpurposerelatingtodamagepreventiononaNationallevel.Thethree-digitdialingcode,‘811’hasbeeninplacefortenyearsandwascelebratedattheMarch2017CGADamagePreventionconferenceinOrlando.MissUtilityacceptedthe811-videochallengewhichwonsecondplaceattheconference.CGAprovidedallattendeeswitht-shirtswiththestatement,‘IAM811’withtheemphasisthateachofusparticipatesinsafetyandhasanimpact.CGA’ssecondinitiativeisatimecapsulevideoassemblingelevenpastcollectablesandprovidingeightfutureideasgearedtoimprovementsforallpartnershipsindamageprevention;locating,callcenter,constructionequipment,mapping,utilityidentiSiers,etc.Therewillbeathree-minutevideooutliningtheitemsthatmustbereceivedbyCGAonNovember8th.IdeaswillbereceivedbySusanduebyOctober15th.ThecapsulewillbeburiedonMissUtilityproperty.Thecommitteediscussedvariousitemstobeincludedinthetimecapsule.

SAFETYPRESENTATION,TRAINING&EDUCATIONEricaErdmanofMarylandMOSHpresentedonHeatStressnamingtheidentiSiableconditions,effectsandresponse.Ericaalsotalkedaboutwaterintoxication.Marylandreportedtwelvefatalitiesin2017duetoheatstress.Wewereremindedtolookforit,recognizethesymptomsandbetrainedonhowtorespond.

TheAuthorityhascontractedwithLuSburrow&Company,Inc.tobegintodevelopaNPVCaseManagementSystemwhichwillserveasthedatabasefoundationforannualreportstotheGovernorandPHMSA,anewandimprovedwebsite,andonlinetrainingmodule&applicationanddataanalyticstomeasuretheprogressoftheAuthorityinreducingexcavationdamagetoundergroundfacilitiesinMaryland.Thisisamulti-yearprojectbeingfundedthroughPHMSAStateDamagePreventionGrants.

TheAuthorityvotedtosubmitJoyceP.BrooksofUpperMarlboro,MarylandtotheGovernortoreplaceVeronicaDavila-SteeleinthePublicMembersSeatontheAuthority.
