Assessment/evidence gathering objectives Class/YearThis project involves gaining knowledge, attitude, skills as well as employability skills, it also covers the process of production of metal tool boxes. Competency is demonstrated by the application of knowledge and skills to a range of tasks manufacturing techniques will include metal bending, cutting, measuring and OHS practices. Realistic job completion timeframes and safety and personal conduct requirements of a manufacturing workplace. OHS requirements include identifying hazards, assessing and reporting risks, cleaning, maintaining and storing tools and equipment, appropriate use of personal protective equipment including sun protection, safe operation of tools and equipment, correct manual handling and personal hygiene. Evidence for a group of units of competency will be collected. Evidence Towards Competency will be collated into a portfolio of work.

Instructions to Trainer/Assessor
Trainer/Assessor will identify any areas where the student has gaps in practical skills and provide feedback to the student. Assessors will use a range of assessment tools for this project as noted below. This project has been mapped to the units of competency for this qualification and includes the requirement to demonstrate employability skills. See Assessment Mapping document for details. Link to mapping document for MEM10105The trainer will verbally outline how the project will be completed by the students, answering questions, give practical demonstrations of use of tools and techniques, provide information on safety and knowledge of processes as well as providing meaningful feed back to students on their progress.The assessor will gather evidence of the student’s progress towards competency using the techniques checked below and record this evidence and a summary of the verbal feedback given in the space provided on the assessment tools.The student is required to record their progress through this project using the student project diary booklet (instructions in booklet). At the end of the project, the student and the trainer/assessor will sign and date the assessment tools and initial the feedback sections of the assessment tools.The assessor will record in the student profile that evidence has been gathered for this project and will provide clear feed back on any obstacle to achieving competency so that these gaps can be addressed in the next project.
