Competition and Cooperation



• Does a free-market economic system push people to compete? Isn’t competition angry and wasteful?





• Shouldn’t society emphasize cooperation?






• The core value or core freedom of a market economy is cooperation.






• The core value or core freedom of a market economy is cooperation.

• In a market economy we have the freedom to choose who we cooperate with: who we buy from, who we work for, who we associate with.






• In a free society, people choose who they wish to cooperate with.




• But today, in the U.S. and around the world, that freedom is often illegal...
