Adamu has disclosed that
the federal government has secured
1.1 billion dollars ($1.1, 000,000)
funds to tackle the increasing
illiteracy rate in the country among
out-of-school children, out-of-
school adolescent girls, adult
illiterates, school drop outs as well

COVID-19: FG Releases Safety Guidelines For Schools Resumption
The safety protocols were issued on Monday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in consultation with the Presidential Task Force on
COVID-19 (PTF-COVID-19) and the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), for the safe re-opening of schools across the country.
In the circular in which the safety guidelines were contained, states are urged to conduct the risk assessment on the schools on a quarterly basis, monthly by the local governments and w e e k l y b y t h e s c h o o l managements.
iii. Ensure that classrooms are well ventilated with a minimum o f o n e - m e t r e s i t t i n g arrangement.
i. Schools should provide learners with a “medical status” form to be completed by all
parents and kept in confidence by the school head.

The federal government, on

no COVID-19 test was required
for returning students to be
admitted into their schools. But

day to day actions to be operated in each school.

• Establish a staff/students committee for regular surveillance, monitoring, and
enforcement of COVID-19 guidelines.
• Conduct risk assessment with a view to understanding the gaps in the system
that can increase the risk of transmission and make recommendations for
addressing the gaps
• Safety and hygiene in all stages and phases of the school reopening process,
which promotes behaviors that reduce spread, such as school commutes (to and
from school traveling), safe distancing, frequent hand washing and the use of
facemasks.
• Ensure adequate Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities across the
school premises
• Encouraging the use of open spaces for gathering and promoting outdoor
activities.
• Other guiding frameworks include sensitization and monitoring procedures.
