HYBRID / BLENDED LEARNINGInstruction via a combination of Distance/Online & Onsite Learning
• Students will follow an A/B Schedule.
• The school will inform parents/families if your child(ren) will have a Monday – Wednesday OR Tuesday – Thursday
Schedule. Students who need to attend school onsite on Fridays will be determined and communicated to the
parents by the teacher/school. Students who do not attend onsite on Fridays will have online assignments.
• Attendance will be recorded based on participation in classes delivered virtually/online AND onsite, as well as
completion of assigned work/tasks,
STUDENTS’ SCHEDULE & ATTENDANCE
• Will report to school and provide face to face and/or virtual instruction / support services
• Weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings will be conducted on Fridays

• Meals will be provided onsite for those in schools.
• Meals will be delivered to pick-up sites (BHS and select bus stops) for those scheduled for distance/online learning.

• Students will be picked-up according to their assigned schedule
• Prescribed bus capacity (depending on govt’s COVID19 phase) and social distancing requirements will be followed
• Buses will deliver meals to pick-up sites for students scheduled for distance/online learning.

The parameters of the BLENDED LEARNING MODEL in MPSB’s plan is based on the Reopening Guidelines released by the
State/ Local Government, and the Louisiana Department of Education. Operations, plans, and activities are based on the
parameters outlined in each reopening phase.
Bus Capacity Maximum Group Size (School Setting)
Phase 1 25% manufacturer’s capacity
Regular / SpEd Bus: 10 students + 1 driver +1 Aide
10 including adults
Phase 2 50% of manufacturer’s capacity
Regular / SpEd Bus: 34 students + 1 driver + 1 Aide
25 Including adults
Phase 3 75% of manufacturer’s capacity
Regular / SpEd Bus: 52 students + 1 driver + 1 Aide
50 including adults
Note: There may be a discrepancy with the capacity limit for buses and school settings, however, this is based on guidance
released by the state and federal government.
Everyone onsite will follow all screening, precautionary, social distancing, hygiene, and sanitation procedures prescribed by
local government agencies and health organizations.
Schools will keep students in static groups as much as possible to limit interactions and assist with contact tracing.
Vulnerable individuals will also abide by the guidelines, understanding that accommodations will be provided
if at all possible. Each situation will be addressed on a case by case basis.

• Students, teachers, and staff will follow prescribed social distancing, hygiene, and sanitation procedures and
guidelines that correlate to the local government’s reopening phase.
• Schools will follow Louisiana Department of Education’s prescribed health and safety standards for reopening of

PRECAUTIONARY & SAFETY GUIDELINES
• After school tutoring will be provided virtually/online. (i.e. After school tutoring, clubs, etc.)
• Athletic activities will follow LHSAA Guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS for MPSB’s VIRTUAL SCHOOL
1. Parents / Guardians need to register/ sign-up their child(ren) for MPSB’s Virtual School Option.
Registration period is from August 10 – 21, 2020.
Details:
a. Students participating in Morehouse Parish Schools’ Virtual Option will remain a student at his/her district
school.
b. Registration for MPSB’s Virtual Option must be completed at each student’s assigned school
c. In order to change from MPSB’s Virtual School to MPSB’s Onsite/Hybrid Instructional Option, a School
Instructional Model Change Request Form MUST be submitted a week before the end of the six (6) week
grading period (for Kindergarten – 6th grade students), and the end of the nine (9) week grading period
(for 7th – 12 grade students).
d. All courses are based on the Louisiana Student Standards. The virtual school will use the same curriculum
as the traditional classroom.

REQUIREMENTS for MPSB’s VIRTUAL SCHOOL
2. Parents/ Guardians must read and agree to the requirements and stipulations for MPSB’s
Virtual School Option as outlined in MPSB’s Virtual School Application, and MPSB’s Virtual
School Handbook.
Overview of MPSB’s Parents’/Guardians’ expectations:
- Commit to MPSB’s Virtual School for a six (6) week increment (for Kindergarten – 6th
grades), and nine (9) week increment (for 7th – 12th grades) with the option to continue for
the school year (except under extenuating circumstances – with required approval from the
Superintendent or his designee)
- Ensure that students participate in lessons and complete ALL required assignments & homework in a
timely manner
- Ensure that students take all require local and state tests
- Communicate with teachers on a regular and consistent basis to ensure student success

Morehouse Parish Virtual School will
occur 5 days a week with a daily schedule for virtual conferencing
engage students using online learning platforms (i.e. Google Classroom, Zoom, etc.)
use the same high-quality, aligned instructional resources as traditional school
provide instruction in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies, along with Computer,
PE, and other enrichment courses for K-8th grade students
provide instruction in courses required for graduation for 9th – 12th grade students
provide students with technology, if necessary

• Students will receive instruction via online platforms (Google classroom, Zoom, etc.) through live stream or recorded
lessons. Recorded lessons can be accessed any time online or saved in a jump drive.
• Attendance will be recorded based on participation in virtual/online classes, or completion of assigned tasks for the
day.
STUDENTS’ SCHEDULE & ATTENDANCE
• Teachers and staff will report onsite to provide instruction or services virtually (live stream and/or pre-recorded
lessons).
• Teachers will prepare & deliver the same high quality lessons using rigorous, aligned instructional resources
• Will communicate regularly with parents/guardians via email and phone. Teachers’ office hours will be followed
• Weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings will be conducted on Fridays

• Students participating in the Morehouse Virtual School may participate in the Child Nutrition program. Grab and
go meals will be provided at scheduled times via designated community pick-up sites. Transportation to pick up
meals must be provided by the student or parent/guardian.
SCHOOL MEALS
• Not applicable. Parents/guardians may need to provide transportation on days when student(s) is/are required to
come to school for some testing required by the Louisiana Department of Education, or if more in-depth
remediation/ intervention is needed. These will be scheduled as one-on-one days, and will precautionary measures
will be in place for minimum exposure to others.

• Students attending virtual classes are eligible to participate in any extracurricular activities offered by
the school
