Page 1: NAPLAN Imaginative writing: Missing parts - Years 7 & 9 · endless quest to find the one that is missing. The extinction of a species weakens the ecosystem. Something overlooked

Thanks to the wonders of technology, most

parts of the body can be replaced.

When I make Grandma's cake, it's not quite right; something is missing.

When the fancy gear is missing, you have to make do with what

you've got.

Missing you,

missing home.

But not missing …

Collectors are on an endless quest to find the one that is missing.

The extinction of a species weakens the ecosystem.

Something overlooked in a crime scene may mean the criminal escapes justice.

Missing parts

Your task is to write a story about how a missing part did or did not spoil an object, person or event.

Narrative

Ÿ Who/what are your characters. Where are they? What's happening?Ÿ How can you build tension in each paragraph?Ÿ How can you make the climax surprise/enlighten the reader?Ÿ How can you resolve the character's situation/problem? (optional)

Use one of the pieces of stimulus as a starting point or source of ideas for your story.

Limit your story to one event and one timeframe. Give your story a title.

We live in a world which values perfection but things have to change when a part of a

something or someone is missing. What matters is how we deal with the new challenge.
