feeling very proud of its academic achievements and simultaneously, I express my sincere thanks to all well wishers for their valuable co-

The International Journal published by the college under editorship of
Dr. Nitashree Barman, Department of Accountancy during the
current academic year is a mile stone in the history of the college.
I hope, all this bold initiative in the field of academic and non
academic achievement will remain intact in future.
The Newsletter that has been published every year will be an
integrated document for future course of action of the college.

It is my privilege to issue the college Newsletter for the year 2019. The Newsletter acts as a
formal platform to express the events and activities of the college, organized by various cells
and Student union body of the college. It highlights the achievements of the students as well as
the academic group. The college has a strong intellectual tradition of trust, and it is a matter of
great honor that I was given the responsibility of working towards, gathering information and

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION:
26 January 2019, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha
Mahavidyalaya, Tulungia celebrated 70th Republic Day. The
flag was hoisted by the Principal of the college Dr Gunindra
Das and there after parade by the students. Speeches were
given by the faculty members of the college, which bliss the
mind of the student being standing in a Independent India.

college campus.

ANNUAL COLLEGE WEEK: 30
th January to 2
nd February, 2019
College week provides a platform to the student of the college
to show their actual talent in co curricular activities. The social,
cultural and sports activities of the program help the students
to prepare for a real life challenge and strengthening their
personal skills. It not only motivates the students which are
talented but also helps other to recognize their own
hidden talents. PDUAM, Tulungia, organized
college week every year in the end of January. All the
students participated in theprograms organized by the student
union of the college. The college Magazine is inaugurated on
the eve of the program. Here are some programs organized
by in charge of the student union.

ACTIVITIES OF BOYS COMMON ROOM, PDUAM, TULUNGIA:
Boys’ Common Room is a vital part of the Students’ Union of
the College. It is not just a place for refreshment of the male
students but also a platform for social interaction and bonding
among them .It also boosts students’ physical health through
sports coming under this segment like arm wrestling and
mental health through sports like carom, chess etc. During
the Annual College Week of the college 2019, Boys’ Common
Room Sport Competitions were conducted and
students participated in huge numbers with
enthusiasm and cooperation. Portfolio of Boys’
Common Room Secretary held by during the period was
Pulak Das, H.S. 1st Yr and Faculty In charge was Dr. Dibakar
Maut. Assistant Professor (HoD), Department of English.

ACTIVITIES OF GIRL’S COMMON ROOM:
A list of event starting from Rangoli
competition, Mehendi design
competition and Cooking
competition was held among the girls of the college during college week
conducted by the Girls common room in charge and secretary. A Quiz
competition was organized in the college during College week 2019. Mr.
Hussain Ali of (then) HS 2nd year and Ms. Shahanaz Parbin of (then) HS 1st
year emerged as the winning team. The competition was organized by Debate
In-Chrage, Mrs Payal Dutta, Assistant Professor, Department of Management.
Sports Incharge of the college organized various sport like Volley ball, Running
(100 meter 500 meter) for both boys and girls, high Jump, Long Jump, Discuss
throw, Javelin Throw, Break the pot, etc. A large number of student participated
in the program with high level of energy. Cultural program like Dance, fashion
show, solo song etc competition were organized by the cultural in charge.
College week ended with prize distribution ceremony. The Guest of Honour for
the closing ceremony program was Bhupen Ray, Ex MLA Bongaigaon. He
blessed the student with is warm speech. Here are some photographs of

SARASWATI PUJA CELEBRATION:
On 29th of January 2019, Saraswati Puja was celebrated in PDUAM Tulungia. The Students offered shradhanjali to Maa
saraswati and took her blessing.

MENTORING PROGRAMME:
To support, motivate and to bring out the hidden talent of the
students, team of teachers were formed to mentor the student of
B.com. The team members are Mrs. Payal Dutta, Miss Pratyashi
Tamuly and Mr. Samaresh Nandy for B.com Second Semester
and Dr Lakhimi Nath, Mr. Atanu Kumar Mishra and Md. Mofidul
Hassan was assigned B.com fourth Semester student. The
program helped to address the habit, interest and
knowledge of the student. It also helped to find out
the reason for absenteeism of the student of the
college. It helped the student by providing
guidance and information about academic
matters, career and most of the matter related to
student life.

YOGA WEEK CELEBRATION:
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, PDUAM, Tulungia, organized a five day program from 17th June 2019 to 21st
June 2019. Students, faculty members, villagers participated in the program. Yoga was performed with guidance from
Yoga Instructor.

WOMEN CELL AND FIRST AID CELL PDUAM, TULUNGIA:
With a view to achieve the aim and objective of International Women’s Day on 8th
March, 2019, a study was conducted on the status of women in village Tulungia
under Bongaigaon district by the Women’s Cell of PDUAM, Tulungia, Bongaigaon.
Though the attempt was initiated to highlight the socio economic status of women
residing in Tulungia village, but other
aspects like living conditions, social
status of the community, historical as
well as biological aspects were also
covered for scientific assessment of the
status of women belonging to the
Tulungia village.
The study was concluded by organizing a free health consultancy cum check up
camp in Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya, Tulungia. On 8th
April, 2019 “Health Awareness Programme” for women was jointly organized by
Women’s and First Aid Cell of PDUAM, Tulungia. Dr Madhusmita Shyam, Medical Officer, Rangapani State Dispensary
was invited to conduct the programme. Some of the photographs are given herewith.

FRESHMEN SOCIAL:
The Freshmen
Social of the
college was held
on 28th June,
2019. Festivities
run from morning
till evening
including both
formal and
informal session.
Most of the fresher introduced themselves by showing their talent on the
stage. Prof Amit Choudhury, Director IDOL, Gauhati University was invited as the chief guest. He delivered his
heartwarming speech and motivated each and every student for all round development along with studies.

A VISIT TO JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN:
Jaipur is one of the most vibrant and colorful cities of India,
famous for its beautiful culture. Its fairy tale forts, palaces and
lakes is eye stopping. The city got its name from the founder
Maharaja Jai Singh II. The great warrior who ruled between
1693 to 1744. The most striking feature of the city is the pink
colour applied to the buildings, giving it the famous title “The
Pink City”.
On 6th July, 2019 all the student along with the faculty
in charge Dr. Raju Subba and Dr. Nitashree Barman
arrived to the New Bongaigaon station at around 1.30
pm to go to our destination Jaipur, Rajastan under the financial
scheme provided by Government of Assam. Everyone of us
was excited for the journey to start. After searching for the
respective seats all the students were settled peacefully. And

about 2.30 pm, the Bikaner Express departed from the station and the
journey began. We reached Jaipur on 7th of July at around
11.30 pm and received by the hotel management team. From
the next day we got up early in the morning to check out the
beautiful tourist spots of Jaipur. The city has many beautiful
places and glorious forts which attracted a lot. We had seen
very beautiful monuments like Jalmahal, Nahargarh Fort, City
Palace, Jaigarh Fort, Hawa Mahal, Amer Fort etc. The places
were very much beautiful, the designs were attractive and
elegant. We also went to the bazaars of Jaipur famous for
Rajasthani Jewellry, leather shoes and other exotic wears.
We also went to Agra on 10 July 2019 to the
monuments like Taj Mahal and Agra Fort which was
also a great moment for all of us. It was really an
amazing and memorable educational trip for us.

Semester
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION:
Independence Day for the third time was celebrated at PDUAM
campus, which was followed by the flag hoisting ceremony, by
honorable principal of the college, Dr Gunindra Das. The
Independence Day of India, which is celebrated religiously
throughout the country on the 15th of August every year, holds
tremendous ground in the list of national days, since it reminds
every Indian about the dawn of a new beginning, the beginning
of an era of deliverance from the clutches of British colonialism
of more than 200 years. Dr Gunindra Das along with the faculty
members of the college addressed the participants and saluted
the people who have contributed to fulfill the hopes and
aspirations of the people, for the people development, peace
and prosperity of independent India. The program was
organized by NSS cell with the help of union body of the
PDUAM, Tulungia. An open quiz competition was conducted
among the teaching, non teaching staff and students.

STUDENT UNION BODY ELECTION:
On 14th September, 2019, the PDUAM, Tulungia Student
Union Election was held in the campus. The election was held
in the following portfolios: General Secretary, Vice President,
Assistant General Secretary, Cultural Secretary, Literary
Secretary, Magazine Secretary, Sports Secretary, Debate and
Symposium, Girls Common Room Secretary and Boys
Common Room Secretary. The students of the college whole
heartedly participated in the election. In the afternoon, on the
same day, the result of the election was declared and the
elected candidates were congratulated. The oath taking
ceremony was conducted on 16th September, 2019

JOURNAL INAUGURATION & SPEECH DELIVERY PROGRAM ON “IMPACT OF DEMONETIZATION IN THE INDIAN
ECONOMY”:
On September 24, 2019, PDUAM,
Tulungia organized a inaugural
ceremony of “PDUAMT
BUSINESS REVIEW”, An
international journal published by
PDUAM, Tulungia. The editor of
the journal is Dr Nitashree
Barman. The journal was
inaugurated by Prof Debadas
Bharali, Former Dean,
Department of Commerce, Gauhati University. Prof Bharali also delivered a valuable
speech about the journal. Dr P K Dhar, Associate Professor (Retd.) of Bongaigaon
College was also invited to the programme. Dr. Dhar delivered a valuable speech on
“Impact Of Demonetization In The Indian Economy”. Many prominent personalities were
present in the event. The programme was hosted by Dr
Chumchum Doloi, Assistant
Professor, PDUAM, Tulungia.
And the programme organizing

Atanu Kumar Mishra.

TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION:
On 5th of September, students along with the teachers celebrated Teachers’ Day to honor their teachers who contributed
a lot for shaping their future. Both students and teachers joyfully enjoyed the day through interacting with each other and
cultural prograrmme.

ACADEMIC CELL:
The Academic Cell of the College arranged remedial classes for HS final year students during the month of October,
November and December 2019. The cell also worked for Introduction and inauguration of GUIDOL study centre in the
college in July 2019. The Convener of the cell is Mrs. Payal Dutta, Assistant Professor, Management, PDUAM, Tulungia.
SWACHHTA PAKHWADA:
From 1st August to 15th of August 2019, PDUAM Tulungia observed Swachh Bharat Pakhwada. The NSS team of the
college under in charge Mr. Porag Pachoni took the initiative to organize the program. A cleaning derive was formed to
clean the college campus. They also took initiative to make people surrounding near the college aware about the ill effects
from open defecation and to stay clean and maintain hygiene.

NATIONAL UNITY DAY CELEBRATION:
On 31st October, 2019 National Unity Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sarder Vallabhai Patel,
who tried to unify the whole country. NSS Unit of the college took the initiative to celebrate National Unity Day.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION:
On the eve of World Environment Day, all the faculty members along with the students planted fifty six saplings of
different varieties around the college campus.

FIT INDIA PLOGGING RUN:
On 2nd October 2019, PDUAM Tulungia organized Fit India Plogging Run. The Program started at 6.00 AM in the morning
from the college campus to Tulungia point. Light refreshment was arranged for the participants of the program. The main
motto of the Fit India Run was Run for Unity in large number.

CONSTITUTION DAY CELEBRATION:
On 26th of November 2019, PDUAM Tulungia celebrated Constitution Day. The day is celebrated in India to
commemorate the adoption of the constitution of India. On 26th of November 1949 the Constituent Assembly of India
adopted the constitution of India and it came into effect on 26 January 1950.
CELEBRATION OF SUDHAKANTHA DR. BHUPEN HAZARIKA’S BIRTHDAY:
All over Assam on 8th of September Dr Bhupen Hazarikas birthday is celebrated. PDUAM, Tulungia in Association with
Assam Sahitya Sabha (Bongaigaon) hosted a daylong program. Many renowned literary personas attained the program.
The Guest of Honour were Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi (President of Asom Sahitya Sabha), Sri Ajit Kumar Das

(President of Bongaigaon district Sahitya Sabha),
Mr Shaktimay Das (A noted Litterateur from
Kolkata), Dr. Mukunda Sarma (Principal,
Bhabhanipur Anchalik College), Dr Sadanda Nath
(Principal, Abhayapuri College) and Mr Bipul Deori
(Sahitya Acadamy Award Winning Translator). The
college is grateful for getting the opportunity to host
this memorable program commemorating Dr.
Bhupen Hazarika.

FOUNDATION DAY:
On 13th November 2019, the College celebrated its 3rd Foundation day. A program was organized with the presence of
students and teachers of the college. Bhupen Ray, Ex MLA was invited as the Chief Guest of the Programme. He
addressed the audience and offered his valuable suggestions for the development of the students. And a prayer was
organized to have the blessings of the almighty for the welfare and development of the college and the society.
WELCOMMING THE HOSTEL BOARDERS TO RANI ABHAYESWARI GIRLS HOSTEL:
Rani Abhayeswari Girl’s hostel on 26th of June 2019 organized freshmen social program to welcome all the boarders to
the hostel. A small introduction cum socialization program was organized. The principal Dr Gunindra Das, of the college
welcomed the student with his warm wishes, followed by a speech by the Superintendent Miss Pratyashi Tamuly,
explaining the hostel rules and regulation. The senior of the hostel organized a cultural performances followed by a
delectable dinner.

PARTICIPATION OF STUDENTS IN OUTDOOR PROGRAMMES:
Brahmaputra Literary Festival:
A group of students were selected to explore the third Brahmaputra Literary festival, which was a three day literary fest
starting from 9th of February to 11th of February 2019. Two faculty Mr Lakshyajit Shyam and Miss Borna Sarma, guided
the student to explore the program. The main purpose of the visit is to make the student aware about different languages,
literature, culture, society, music, dance etc. of the North Eastern India.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT ABHAYAPURI COLLEGE, BONGAIGAON:
On the Eve of Independence day, Abhayapuri College Bongaigaon hosted an Inter College Competition. The Student of
PDUAM, Tulungia participated in essay competition, speech competition, quiz competition group song competition and
volley ball competition held in Abhayapuri college on account of Independence Day celebration. Ms. Lalita Ray of B.Com
3rd semester secured first position in essay competition. Ms. Nayani Saikia of B.Com 3rd semester, Mr. Bishal Mondol of
B.Com 1st semester secured first and third positions respectively in speech competition and PDUAM Tulungia hold 2nd
position in the group song competition.

INTERNATIONAL FILM FFESTIVAL, GUWAHATI:
The State Government owned Jyoti Chitraban Society organized the International film festival in association with Dr.
Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute. A group of Student with escort Miss Borna Sarma
and Mr. Atanu Kumar Mishra was appointed to attain the program held from 31st of October 2019 to 6th of November
2019.

INTER COLLEGE INSTITUTIONAL DEBATE COMPETITION:
Ms. Nayani Saikia of (then) B.Com 2nd semester secured second position in inter college institutional debate competition
held on 15th February 2019 in SCS College of Agriculture, Chapar, Dhubri on account of Golden Jubilee Year celebration,
Assam Agricultural University.
CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME OF YOUTH ON LEADERSHIP AND PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT:
The programme officer of NSS, Mr. Porag Pachoni along with two NSS volunteers viz. Bishal Mandal and Roshan Chetry
participated in a Capacity Building Programme of Youth on leadership and personality development through life skills.
The program was organized by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India, Regional Directorate of NSS, Guwahati
at Don Bosco institute, Guwahati from 18 to 22 September, 2019.

A trip from Chilarai Jataya Vidyalaya, of Tulungia Bongaigaon visited PDUAM, Tulungia. The student visited the college
library, classroom, smart room etc. They enjoyed and got a new experience in the College.

SWAHID DIWAS:
On 10th of December, PDUAM Tulungia Studient Union, 2019-20 has observed
Swahid Divas, where floral tribute was offered to the martyrs of Assam Agitation.

BEST PRACTICE IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE PDUAM, TULUNGIA REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2018-19:
The Best Practice Implementation Committee was formed on 25th
April 2018 with a decision to award the following rewards to the
students of the college:-
1) One time Financial Assistance of Rs 25000/- in cash along with a letter of appreciation to the topper among the Higher
Secondary final examinees of the college.
2) One time financial assistance of Rs 3000/- in cash with a letter of appreciation to the topper among the B. Com final examinees
of the college.
3) Book grant / uniform costing Rs 2000/- along with a recognition letter to one poor and meritorious student of Higher
Secondary and to poor and meritorious student of B.com after their admission in to Higher Secondary 1st year and B.com 1
st
semester respectively.
In the academic session 2018-19, the committee has awarded the following student of the college:-
