2007: A Parks Master Plan was approved thatrecommended the development of a third RegionalPark located in North Lethbridge.
2009: Needs Assessment and Site Selection Study:- public engagement process designed to identifythe overall needs for a regional park, to prioritizethose needs, to provide clear direction as to thebest site for the North Lethbridge Regional Park.

• Vision - the North Regional Park (NRP)will become a destination for four season,city wide recreation and cultural activitiesand events through the provision of aunique range of facilities and amenities.
• Background - the Design will build onthe foundation of community ideas andinspiration captured during the NeedsAssessment and Public EngagementStudy. The NRP is well on its way towardsthe vision of ‘a park of the people, by thepeople, for the people’.
• Project Description - Over the next twoyears, the Design will move the projecttowards reality by evolving the list of‘preferred recreational possibilities’ into anintegrated concept plan that supports thecommunity’s vision.
Key Project Messages• Detailed Design - the concept plan will
provide the framework for a detaileddesign that will include design solutionsthat are innovative, sustainable, readilyconstructible and maintainable, and that fitwithin the City’s Capital ImprovementPlan.
• Public Engagement - there will beseveral opportunities for stakeholders andmembers of the public to learn more aboutand provide comment on the Design andprovide their ideas to name this regionalpark.
• Construction - construction of the NRPproject is anticipated to begin in 2014(pending approval of the design andcapital budget).
