1. Addition of Singapore National Annex in Eurocode
Model > Properties > Materials
Load > Lateral Loads > Wind Loads / Static Seismic Loads
Load > Response Spectrum Analysis Data > Response Spectrum Functions
• Steel material data base as per BC1:12, Appendix A is implemented. Design parameter py and fy are applied in the steel
code checking by different steel grades and thickness.
• Static Wind Load as per NA to SS EN 1991-1-4:2009 is implemented. In Singapore National Annex, structure type is used
instead of terrain category. Also fundamental basic wind velocity is applied as 20m/s and air density, ρ, is applied as1.194kg/m3.
• Response Spectrum Function and Static Seismic Load as per NA to SS EN 1998-1:2013 is implemented. In SingaporeNational Annex, only horizontal spectrum is required and ground type is limited as “C, D, and S1”. Also reference ground
acceleration is applied as 0.175m/s2.

• Steel, Concrete, and Footing load combination as per NA to SS EN 1990 is implemented. Default values of factors for
variable actions (Ψ) and partial factors for actions (γ) are changed based on the specified national annex.
• Concrete design as per NA to SS EN 1992-1-1:2008 is implemented. For RC beam, column, slab, and wall, ultimate limit
state and service limit state design are supported.
• Steel design as per NA to SS EN 1993-1-1:2010 is implemented. Steel code checking is provided for ultimate and service
limit state verification. Steel optimal design can be used based on the strength verification.

2. User Defined Shear Length in Pushover Analysis as per EN 1998-3:2004
• In the previous version, when calculating total rotation at yielding and ultimate, “Ratio of moment /shear at the end section,
Lv” was always applied as 50% of member length. Now, the value of Lv can be specified by the user as an relative length or
absolute length.
•Shear length, Lv, is activated in RC/SRC Beam, Column, and Walls with Moment-Rotation(M-θ) hinge.

3. Improvements on Eurocode Load Combination
• Different value of Psi factor can be defined in the table format. This feature is useful when a building is composed of different
area such as residential, office, and shopping area since different Ψ factor for imposed load can be specified by categories.
• Temperature load case is now considered in the automatic generation of load combination as per Eurocode.

4. Improvements on Punching Shear Checking as per EN1992-1-1:2004
• Control perimeter at which shear reinforcement is not required, uout, eff , is added in the text format report.
• In the previous version, punching shear check was skipped if the element type of column is truss. Truss element can now be
considered in punching shear check.

5. Same Beam Rebar at Joints
• In concrete code design, identical rebar will be provided in the adjacent ends. If the required rebar area is different between
two beams, greater rebar area will be applied.
• Elements with identical section IDs and material IDs can be assigned.
• When “All” is selected for Member Select option, the program can automatically detect members to have identical rebars.

6. Cracked Section Stress in GSD
• Cracked section stresses in the elastic behavior without and with axial force are calculated for RC and SRC members.
• It is useful to check stress limitation under service limit state for the arbitrary sections and to calculate crack width using the
stresses of reinforcement.
• The effect of creep on the stresses is simply considered by using the user-defined ratio of modulus elasticity of reinforcement
to concrete.
• It is assumed that the tensile strength of concrete is zero. The neutral axis depth is determined using cracked transformed
section approach.

7. Damping Constant in Surface Spring Support
Damping coefficient can be specified in Point Spring
Supports and Surface Spring Supports.
In case of Surface Spring Supports, spring stiffness and
damping coefficient per unit area needs to be defined
and the springs are automatically entered at each node
represented by concentrated stiffness and damping
constant. it is converted to the element support.
In Point Spring Supports, spring stiffness and damping
coefficient per unit length and unit angle needs to be
defined.
Damping constant is applicable in Response Spectrum

1. Improvements on Revit 2014 Interface
File > Import > midas Gen MGT File
•In the previous version, the user needed to write or modify section and material mapping file in text format file. In the new
version, auto-detecting function using DB section/material name has been newly added. The user can also manually add
mapping data in the dialog box more easily.
•Boundary conditions and loads can now be imported from Revit to midas Gen.
