In July 2012 we, as NTS-Pakistan have completed 10 years of successful operation. Over this period, we have achieved
important landmarks and have positioned NTS as the leadingtesting and assessment organization of Pakistan.
Since our inception, we have been providing solutions to thedynamic educational and business environment, to meet the
current and future challenges in educational and professionaltesting and assessment. Our strength is our legacy of acceptingchallenges to respond to the growing demands of educational andprofessional institutions with great commitment and transparency.
We are on the growth to add more service divisions and to make new strides for improving testing andassessment in the country. Introduction
National Testing Service–Pakistan (NTS) is Pakistan's first self-
sustained testing organization, which administers tests and
assessments for admission, scholarship, recruitment and promotion
purposes. NTS also contributes in Human Resource Development
(HRD) by organizing training and capacity building sessions, and
conducts Research & Development (R&D) specifically in the field of educational testing and evaluation.
NTS was established in July 2002, in response to expressed need for atesting service in the National Education Policy (1998-2010) and the
Information Technology (IT) Policy of Government of Pakistan (GoP).
By June 2012, NTS assessed proficiency of over 3.0 million
individuals who appeared in various disciplines for their future
educational and professional progression.
Having completed ten years, NTS is now playing a pivotal role in
promoting merit and quality education not only to the educational
sector but also to the public and private sector organizations. NTS
tests and assessments are now pre-requisite of many prime public and
private sector engineering, medical and other professional colleges,universities and institutions for admission and recruitment purposes.The ever promised objective of NTS is to offer affordable,
standardized and reliable tests for all individuals who wish to rise.
NTS always strives for excellence and ensures quality, efficiency, reliability, accuracy and most significantly
credibility of entire system in a transparent manner under strict security arrangements. This is transpired
because of intellectual and academic collaboration of stakeholders from different universities and
professional organizations including, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Higher
Education Commission (HEC), and associates serving in different public and private sector entities of Pakistan.
NTS, an ISO 9001:2008 certified and a member of the International Association for Educational Assessment
(IAEA)-USA organization, has made further marks by receiving international attention for partnerships with
some of the most renowned agencies worldwide, including ETS-USA, CITO, B.V. Netherlands.

This test is pre-requisite for admissions in PhD programs in all universities of Pakistan. Thetest is held four times a year and result of this test remains valid for two years. This test isalso be used for recruitment or promotions by many public and private organizations. Thistest is similar to International GRE-Subject.

This test is for admissions in NTS Associated Universities and degree awardinginstitutions (DAIs). The candidates having 12-14 years of education appear in a single testonly and stand eligible for admission to all universities in the respective subject group. Thecandidates are required to apply for admission in the universities as per their respectiveannouncements along with a copy of the NTS Result Card. This test is held twelve times ina year and its result remain valid for one year.
This test is an essential requirement for admission in MS/M.Phil programs in alluniversities and DAIs of Pakistan the same test is used for the award of HEC and Ministryof Education Scholarships. GAT- General test is held on quarterly basis. The result of thetest remains valid for two years and similar to International GRE-General.

NTS offers both - paper-&-pencil, computer-based tests (CBT & iBT). NTS uses most modern technologies
for developing test items, building test item bank, paper generation, e-marking and compilation of results.
NTS tests measure the attributes such as general mental ability, critical thinking, problem solving,communication skills, empathy and grip on specialized subjects of the candidate which are required for
further development in every discipline. These tests aim to assess more than intellectual ability and have
added value along with regular board examinations. Such tests distinguish candidates on the basis of
cognitive functions and personality, independent of social class and schooling.

The aim of NTD is to fulfill the needs of educational institutions by conducting a
standardized recruitment test for potential and existing faculties engage in teaching to
primary and secondary level classes. The NTD associates are also provided free
access to the database for selection of suitable candidates. NTD Test Score is
valid for Two Years. The test certify teachers in subjects of their choice at district level.

(PPMA) and Pharma Bureau has initiated a MRC Program for professional

By virtue of the contract, NTS is the soledistributor and promoter of ETS products including, TOEFL (ITP), TOEIC – L&R,TOEIC - S&W and TOEIC A-1 English Test - required as per new immigration laws of United Kingdom and UK Border Agency (UKBA) in Pakistan.

capacity building workshops. Realizing the fact that Pakistan does not have proper
institute to impart training on an internationally recognized and standardized testing /

Future Plans - Vision 2020
NTS has developed its 10-Year Strategic Business Plan –Vision-2020
which is based on NTS's pastexperience. NTS aims to reach 10 million beneficiaries till 2020. During the decade, NTS will initiatefollowing programs:-vTesting and Assessment (T&A).vHuman Resource Development (HRD).vNetwork and Partnership Building (NPB).vInstitutional Capacity Building (ICB).vRegional and International Cooperation (RIC).vResearch and Development (R&D).vInformation and Knowledge Management (IKM).
NTS will provide its services to all organizations. However, international standards test andassessment products and services will be offered on the patterns of basic English level paper tests
while keeping in view the country situation. NTS will administer CBT/iBT all over the country butunder strict security. National Institute of Educational Testing and Assessment (NIETA)
In addition, NTS plans to establish an international standard National Institute of Educational Testing and
Assessment. The overall purpose is to acquaint teaching faculties (primary to professional level) of public
and private sector educational institutions including universities with students' monitoring and
evaluation techniques with an emphasis to:
vTest and evaluation paper development techniques in specified subject.
vEnable with knowledge, skills and techniques of efficient paper marking.
vEstablish Pupil Monitoring System (PMS) in selected institutions of Pakistan.
vResearch and Development (in testing and assessment).
The institute will offer various kinds of training courses span over a week to six months diploma. The
Institute will be affiliated with HEC, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Pakistan and
